Warning… Spoilers below!
On The Chi Season 6 Episode 4, Douda’s romantic rendezvous with Bianca gets derailed when his ex-wife Roselyn crashes the scene to talk business—federal business.
Personal Entanglements and Federal Heat
But, as if straight out of a classic drama, his past comes knocking in the form of Roselyn. The two had once been a power couple, navigating the treacherous waters of Chicago politics. Douda, the former mayor of the Windy City, and Roselyn, his ex-wife, haven’t been on the same team since their political and personal split. Their past is riddled with complexities, making this unexpected reunion all the more intriguing.
Roselyn divulges that Q, a former associate, had been an FBI informant, putting Douda in jeopardy of a lifetime behind bars. Shaad, an old acquaintance, gets a windfall from Douda, while Douda himself makes strategic moves to offload a stockpile of weapons due to heightened scrutiny from federal agencies.
Navigating Old Flames and New Opportunities
The ROCK center becomes the stage for rekindled relationships and contentious decision-making. Dre and ex-fiancé Monica awkwardly agree to keep the peace. Meanwhile, Marcus delivers an ultimatum to Jemma: reach her goals or go to college, which she considers a scam. Fatima meets with friends to examine her relationship with Victor, who himself gets warned about his involvement in Q’s criminal activities.
Familial Struggles and Financial Hardships
When Emmett arrives home, he’s greeted by chaos and children, prompting talks of hiring a nanny despite the looming financial stress. Maisha and Jemma spar over budget constraints, and Papa and Kenya find rhythm in a bowling date set to Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love.” Roselyn warns Victor to stay silent on Q’s FBI connections, while Rob and Tiff learn that growing their cannabis business won’t be as easy as they thought.
Candid Conversations Among Men
Victor confides in his friends about the thankless nature of his role as Alderman. Marcus discusses his new relationship but avoids revealing his partner’s identity, while Emmett opens up about his struggles with newfound responsibilities. Shaad admits the complexities of cohabitating without a stable job, even as Jamal discusses the perils of life after the streets.
A Lion at the Gates
Tensions escalate during a dinner party hosted by Darnell, with shade thrown by Deja upon discovering Marcus’s new girlfriend is Tierra. Later, Shaad’s attempt to help Douda hide firearms falls flat. Tiff and Rob encounter bureaucratic roadblocks when they meet Victor to discuss a cannabis growing permit, a move that leads Tiff to consider operating outside the law. Rob questions Victor about his uncle’s murder. Finally, Douda faces moral scrutiny during Pastor Jackson’s sermon, casting him as the lion ready to attack.
