The IRS launched a new tool called Get My Payment to track the status of stimulus checks (official known as Economic Impact Payments.) You can determine whether you will receive a direct deposit or mailed check. The tool will be available by Friday, April 17th. Update: the tool is now available!
If the IRS does not already have your direct deposit information, this tool will allow an option for you to enter your banking information. If you are not already set to receive your stimulus check (or Economic Impact Payment) via direct deposit this option allows you to be paid faster than a mailed check. If you filed in 2018 and/or 2019, to use Get My Payment tool you will need to have:
- Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Tax ID Number (ITIN)
- Date of birth
- Street address
- Zipcode
However, if you are a non-filer, they have released an IRS direct deposit tool to enter your banking information now.
