Taraji P. Henson will receive her star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame! The ceremony will take place on Monday, January 28, 2019. Speaking at the engagement will be Oscar-nominated director John Singleton and Grammy-winning singer Mary J. Blige. Celebrity Myxer will air the live stream as the ceremony happens so be sure to check back for coverage.
Taraji broke out her film career in 2001 when she starred in Singleton’s “Baby Boy” alongside Tyrese Gibson. She rose to critical acclaim in the movie “Hustle & Flow” alongside Terrence Howard. Currently, she crowns the mischievous diva’s music mogul role as Cookie in “Empire.” Her career includes many prestigious nominations such as Academy Award & Screen Actors Guild Award; as well as winning awards such as the BET Award & Golden Globe. Henson’s Oscar award came alongside Brad Pitt in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Her SAG Award with castmates came from the film “Hidden Figures.”
Henson has portrayed many roles in Tyler Perry Productions including “Acrimony,” “Proud Mary,” “Think Like a Man,” “Think Like a Man Too,” “Talk to Me, “Smokin Aces,” Tyler Perry’s “The Family That Preys,” “Hurricane Season,” and “No Good Deed.” Recently she’s starring in Mel Gibson’s gender-swap remake film called What Men Want set to hit theaters February 8th.
In October 2016, Henson released her New York Times bestselling novel “Around The Way Girl,” a memoir about her family and friends, her determination to make it to Hollywood, and the importance of living your own truth. In 2018, Henson launched the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in honor of her late father. The organization will provide scholarships to African-American students majoring in mental health, offer mental health services to youth in urban schools, and work to lower the recidivism rates of African-American men and women.
