In the celebrity entertainment rumor-mill, it was confirmed that the new SAW movie called Spiral will star Chris Rock, as a detective investigating a series of gruesome murders. Rock will also star in the new film alongside Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Rock’s father in the new franchise. The film series earned over $1 billion at box offices for Lionsgate and has become a staple of movie horror pop culture. This will be the ninth installment. In the previous eight, the synopsis centers around Jigsaw (portrayed by Tobin Bell) who traps his victims and puts them in the ultimate test of their will to live.
“We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the ‘Saw’ canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise. This is next level of ‘Saw’ on full tilt,” said Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
