Outlander Season 6 Complete Recap

Outlander Season 6 premiered on Starz Sunday, March 6, 2022. Season 6 had 8 episodes and was based on Diana Gabaldon’s “A Breathe of Snow and Ashes”, book 6 in her Outlander series. A lot happened in this season and it also set up the events in season 7 that will follow. Predominantly, the American Revolutionary War! So, let’s take a look at what all happened in Outlander Season 6.

Tom Christie moves onto the Ridge with his son, Allan, and daughter, Malva. Tom immediately starts building a church and asks Roger to lead the services. Malva becomes entranced with Claire and starts to follow her around everywhere as an apprentice. Roger and Brianna decide to help a newcomer, Amy, build a house when they find out she is a widowed mother. Rumors start flying about Roger and Amy when Roger spends too much time at Amy’s house.

Jaime starts and quits a job as Indian Agent to the Crown in this season. Jaime is able to acquire guns for Cheif Bird and the Cherokees before he resigns. Marsali gives birth to Henri, a dwarf, and Fergus doesn’t react well. Jaime saves Fergus from a suicide attempt, and politically the Boston Tea Party happens.

Brianna warns Jaime about the Trail of Tears. Young Ian is reminded of his Mohawk past when he bumps into Kaheroton. Young Ian tells the story of his time with the Mohawks and his marriage to Emily and the miscarriage that she suffered. Kaheroton marries Emily after Young Ian leaves the Mohawks.

Brianna is pregnant and Roger is going to become an ordained preacher. Jaime attends a Sons of Liberty meeting and tries to convince Lord John to attend as well. Lord declines, recognizing that he and Jaime are on opposite sides now. Malva is desperate for love. She is using the dead sin-eater’s fingers for the love spell she is casting. She has had relations with Obadiah Henderson and Young Ian.

We got to see the TV version of the Real-Life Flora MacDonald. Flora gets an emerald stolen out of her necklace and the unknown, unseen thief is from the future!

Marsali and Fergus are moving to New Berne so Fergus can open a printing shop! A family dies from tainted water and dysentery is discovered. Claire and Tom fall ill with a mystery illness and Malva cuts Claire’s hair off to combat Claire’s high fever.

Malva is pregnant and claims Jaime seduced her while Claire was sick. Claire finds Malva with her throat sliced in her and Jaime’s yard! Claire performs an emergency C-section to try to save Malva’s unborn baby, but it is too late. Malva and the baby are both dead!

Lizzie is pregnant and doesn’t know which Beardsley twin is the father! She handfasts both Josiah and Keziah!

Claire has developed a dependency on ether to silence the voices from her past that torment her. She can now add Malva’s voice to Jack’s and Lionel’s voices that haunt her. Richard Brown shows up to arrest Claire for Malva’s murder!

Jaime and Claire have a good old-fashioned shoot-out until they give in and go with Richard Brown. Tom offers to go along with them for their safety. During the trip to Wilmington for Claire’s trial, Richard Brown separates Jaime and Claire, trying to send Jaime on a ship back to Scotland! Young Ian, Chief Bird, and the Cherokees save Jaime and are on their way to rescue Claire from Richard Brown.

Outlander Season 7 Release Date and News

Outlander Season 7 is confirmed to be twice as long as Outlander Season 6! There will be 16 episodes in Outlander Season 7. This alone, lets us know the writers have a lot more to say in this upcoming season of Outlander. Season 7 of Outlander will be adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s An Echo in The Bone”, book 7 in her Outlander series. With Season 6 ending with such a cliffhanger, Season 7 can’t come fast enough to answer all our questions!

Outlander Season 7 began filming at the beginning of April 2022! Sharp-eyed fans spot the cast and crew filming in Scotland. Both Sam Heughan (Jaime) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire) confirmed this when they shared pictures of filming on their Instagrams. A release date has not been confirmed by Starz as of this writing. Drop us your email to be notified as soon as we have the official Outlander Season 7 release date. Leave me a comment below and let me know if you are looking forward to Season 7.

Outlander Spin-off

So far there have been no official releases on Outlander Spin-offs, but there have been multiple whispers, leaks, and hints. I would say it is a safe bet to say that Starz will release an Outlander Spin-off.

Starz SEO Jeffrey Hirsch said: “There’s a lot of opportunity in the Outlander universe to have story extensions, spin-offs, or sequels. Hopefully, we’ll find something that feels great and that we can continue to tell that story.”

Diana Gabaldon has been working on an as-of-yet unnamed book, telling the story of Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser (Jaime’s parents) for a while now. No real word on this, other than just little teases and reminders it is coming. In 2013 Gabaldon published Virgins which is the story of a much younger Jaime and Young Ian living in France in the 1740s. So there are a couple of paths they could take on how to develop a prequel. With all the hints being dropped, talk of prequels, and new books being written in that direction, it’s just a matter of when a prequel will be announced and not if. Questions Outlander Season 6 Left Unanswered

  • Who was the unidentified man in the jail, whistling the futuristic tune that Claire recognized?
  • How are Marsali and Fergus doing in New Berne and are they coming back?
  • How will Claire get the voices of Jack, Lionel, and Malva to stop tormenting her without relying on ether every time?
  • Will Roger becoming ordained affect his and Brianna’s marriage?
  • Who killed Malva?
  • Who was the father of Malva’s baby? Was it Young Ian, Obadiah Henderson, or someone much, much closer to Malva?
  • What does Tom know that made him offer to go to Wilmington to provide Claire some offer of safety?
  • Why didn’t Tom stand with Allan, accusing Jaime of Malva’s murder?
  • Will Richard Brown get the revenge on Jaime and Claire he so desires?

Hopefully, this Droughtlander doesn’t last too long and Season 7 gets a late-in-the-year release, instead of an early spring 2023 release. Leave me a comment below and let’s talk about your thoughts and theories on Outlander Season 6 and the upcoming Season 7.
