Watch Outlander Season 6 Episode 1 Premiere “Echoes”
Previously on Outlander Season 5 finale, Book Five finds the Frasers fighting for their family and the home they have forged on Fraser’s Ridge. Jamie must find a way to defend all that he has created in America while hiding his personal relationship with Murtagh Fitzgibbons, the man whom Governor William Tryon has ordered him to hunt down and kill. With her family together, at last, Claire Fraser must use her modern medical knowledge and foresight to prevent them from being ripped apart once again.

On Outlander Season 6 Episode 1 premiere, it begins in Ardsmuir in 1753. The Catholic prisoners and Jaime are outside the prison with the Scottish Army making its way to Culloden to fight the British Army. They fight amongst themselves as Catholic prisoners against Tom and his Protentsant way and the Army is led by a Protestant King.
The governor sits down to dinner with Tom and Jaime who is in shackles. The Governor is upset that the King and himself have been disrespected by the prisoner riots and Jaime’s presence and leadership amongst the prisoners. He orders the prisoners a hard day of labor and Tom agrees.
The Catholic prisoners break out in song which sends Tom into a fit of rage. Again they break out into rioting and fighting. A lad dies in the fighting and old Charlie, a fellow prisoner, lays a forbidden piece of tartan on his dead body. When a soldier throws a fit about who laid the tartan, Jaime takes the blame for it and is whipped. His back is scared and it doesn’t even phase him. Tom is irate that Jaime took the blame and the punishment.
The Governor questions Jaime about what happened with the riot and the lad’s death. Jaime says he can lead the men but he needs food and medicine for them. He’ll provide the hope.
Jaime takes leadership of the prisoners and declares no more fighting or talk of politics or religion. Only a few disagree, Tom of course.
Fast forward to 1773 in North Carolina, Claire has discovered Ether, an anesthetic, and Jaime is proud. He tells her that he’s been offered the task of being the representative of the Crown to the Indians.
Brianna and Roger discuss their new acceptance of being happy where they are and how they can be helpful with their futuristic knowledge.
Claire notices bruises on a pregnant Marsali when she performs a check-up.
Tom shows up at Jaime’s and Roger lets him in. Tom explains they know each other from Ardsmuir. Jaime and Claire show up and the tension is thick!
Claire reassures Brianna that her inventions are for the good.
Claire and Jaime debate if Tom should settle on the Ridge. Jaime feels guilty because while they were in Ardsmuir, Tom lost his wife and Jaime had visions of Claire who saved him. They share their passion for each other.
Malva tells Claire that her father, Tom has started a congregation.
Jaime declines the Indian representative job from the King. Jaime, Brianna, and Roger confront Tom about starting a church on the Ridge.
Brianna and Roger decide to help a new settler widow with two littles, they just aren’t sure how yet.
Young Ian and Allan get shot at when Ian is mistaken for an Indian. Ian has to name-drop his family connection to Jaime to ensure his safety.
Claire stitches a knife wound when Tom cuts his hand. She informs him that she needs to fix his other hand or it will be useless in 6 months.
Major Christie stops by Jaime’s to tell Jaime that he’s found a new man to be the Indian Representative to the Crown, Richard Brown. Jaime disapproves.
Richard Brown, the man who also shot at Young Ian and Allan shows up at Jaime’s house accusing Allan of stealing a powder horn. Jaime and Tom have a small spat about who will punish Allan and Jaime puts his foot down and punishes Allan himself.
Jaime tells Major Christie that he will take the Indian Representative job because he refuses to allow Richard to get it.
Tensions are high between Tom and Jaime. They argue about who rules the Ridge, Jaime or God.
Marsai and Fergus argue about his drinking.
Claire has a nightmare about Lionel and Jaime tries to reassure her. She leaves their bed and their bedroom to go knock herself out with her newfound ether.
