Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance documentary follows the Chicago Bulls 1997-1998 team as they struggle through triumph and ultimately, victory. This captured the third and final time they 3-peated in eight years. It was Phil Jackson’s last season coaching for the Bulls. And at the time, Michael declared he would not play for any other head coach. It was the year Jordan was rumored to retire for good. The initial episodes air on April 19th at 8 pm CT on ESPN.
The Last Dance is a 10-part docuseries chronicling everything from the frustrating lockerroom meetings, to interviews with the press, individual workouts, and even rare candid interviews with Michael as well as a host of other celebrities. Every basketball great spoke on this documentary, including Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Magic Johnson, Barack Obama, and Kobe Bryant.
This film has so much significance from multiple levels. The fact that it sat on the shelf for decades until the right film crew pitched Jordan the best way to display it was uncanny.
