Black Women Won Big At The BET Awards!

Black women had epic wins at the 2021 BET Awards! It was extremely appropriate as this year’s theme for the show was the “Year of the Black Woman.” Here are the highlights from the prestigious awards ceremony.

Queen Latifah was the biggest winner at the BET Awards. She received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of her prolific career over the past 30 years, in which she remained one of the most versatile creatives of the time. She thanked her mother for pushing her and giving her the strength to be a pioneering female rapper. She also thanked her father, “who praised the Black woman!” She also went on to give special thanks to her long-time business partner, Shakim Compere. If it were not for him keeping his promise, guiding her, and keeping her safe in the industry- things may not be as fruitful.

When she returned to the stage to accept this award in a competitive category, she gave respect to Cardi B as well as her mentor, Beyonce for collabing with her on the track.

Black women are the strongest beings on this planet. So strong, resilient, passionate, and creative- it was wonderful to see representation by us for us!
