The audience is introduced to Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson), who make a return as paranormal investigators. During the course of their workload, they come across a case unlike they have seen before. And that is saying something when they profess themselves to be ‘professionals.’
And yet, they may have a point. They are called out to investigate a murder case. This is no ordinary crime scene, however. The perpetrator David Glatzel (Julian Hilliard) does not deny any wrongdoing, but the purported defense throws up more questions than answers.
He cites his actions as a result of a demon and therefore justifies demonic possession as a source of defense. Just when you thought you had heard it all, there is a further spanner in the works. It turns out David is merely a boy. Can he be trusted, or is this really a case of the unknown?
