Team LeBron wins the 2020 NBA All-Star game over Team Giannis, 157-155. The victors also earned $300,000 for the Chicago Scholars students in Chicago! Kawhi Leonard received the first-ever “Kobe Bryant MVP” award. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo were team captains for the second straight season. The NBA All-Star Game 2020 highlights included some epic moments in the fourth quarter- which decided the fate of the game. The last quarter was played to a set high score of 157, rather than the victor being to the team with the most points based on a timed quarter. This style of play was named The Elam Ending, dubbed after its brainchild Nick Elam, a former middle school principal (and current professor at Ball State University) who got sick of NBA games ending in an endless torrent of intentional fouls. This made for an intense and super exciting game to spectate.
Fans were in awe when Lebron went up for a dunk and Giannis rejected it from behind. James was seeking a goaltending score, however, it was reviewed and ruled a clean block. With three points needed to win for Team Lebron- James Harden fouled a defender and cashed a three-pointer, however, the late foul was called- overturning the points. The ultimate deciding factor was a free throw made by Anthony Davis to win the game.
