MLK/FBI is an essential expose of the surveillance and harassment of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (labeled by the FBI as the “most dangerous” Black person in America), undertaken by J. Edgar Hoover and the U.S. government. Based on newly discovered and declassified files, as well as revelatory restored footage, the documentary explores the government’s history of targeting Black activists. MLK/FBI was directed by Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominee, Sam Pollard.

“SEARING. Serves as a chilling reminder that white supremacy is not solely a partisan problem; it’s a cruelty baked into the fabric of our political system, poisoning it at every level. Change comes when we allow ourselves to challenge the stories we have been told about our history.” —THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, Jourdain Searles

The film premieres in select locations on what would have been King’s 92nd birthday. MLK Day is Monday, January 18, 2021. Although painful, it is important that more of the truth be known about Dr. King’s struggles against the U.S. government during his tenure.

This film is an important reminder of racism rooted in white supremacy beliefs that still haunt Americans to this day. As we witnessed early in 2021, domestic terrorists attempted to attack the Capitol. The insurrection incited by a demagogue failed President was a disgrace to our democracy. Society swiftly noticed the unjust equilibrium imbalance for protestors based on race. Something Dr. King and his supporters experienced on a level that was so violent- all the while they were merely sitting… peacefully. White people received a stark reminder of how racially divided America is. There was a vast difference in how BLM protestors were treated in comparison to attackers on Capitol Hill.
