Amazon Music and Prime Video have confirmed that they will be teaming up with Twitch to exclusively air Kanye West’s first headline show, ‘The Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert’, in five years.
The one-night show is set to go ahead at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Thursday, December 9, at 8 pm PT. The anticipation could not be any bigger, with fans already teased by the news that Drake will join as a special guest.
The announcement puts an end to the rift between the two artists that had played out over rumors surrounding Drake being connected with Kim Kardashian.
The move has set a precedent of getting together two of the world’s biggest hip-hop stars. Alaina Bartels of Amazon Studios said, “It’s rare to be able to bring two of the biggest cultural icons together on one stage for our customers across the globe. We’re constantly focused on building opportunities for them to reach fans in exciting new ways. We can’t wait for our audiences to watch this special event.”
Ye’sconcert will not only be a chance for fans to see his new album ‘Donda,’ but the concert aims to raise awareness about the need for prison and sentencing reform.
As part of this initiative, Kanye will be working alongside social justice advocates, including Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, Hustle 2.0, and Uptown People’s Law Center.
Jennifer Salke, who happens to be the head of Amazon Studios, had this to say, “We’re extremely proud to be working with Kanye and Drake on this historic concert in support of a cause they are both so passionate about, and to collaborate across Amazon for this epic entertainment event.”
