We knew this headline was coming… Trump impeached, again!
On January 13, 2021, The House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump for inciting an insurrection at the Capitol building a week prior. Trump called for a rally claimed to “Stop the Steal.” Referring to his repeated lies and detachment from reality that he, in fact, lost the Presidential election to Joe Biden.
At this rally, he (and other cronies) clearly incited the mob, telling them to head down the street where VP Pence and other leaders in Presidential succession were housed. They were doing The People’s business, carrying out a ceremonial process to certify the electrical college votes. This mob then attacked the Capitol building, effortlessly. This murderous mob roamed the halls with nooses and zip ties looking for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and even chanting “Hang Mike Pence.” Luckily, all political members were evacuated in time. This could have been a lot worse.
Most people think being “radicalized” is reserved only for external terrorists. This is true for internal terrorists, too. We witnessed for the past five years how Trump has been empowering and weaponizing the hate of racist terrorists. As a result, 5 people died including a Capitol police officer, Brian D. Sicknick. And Trump, in a news conference, claimed he was not responsible for any involvement in the attack.
This wasn’t the first time he was impeached. This is the second time in 13 months. But the Senate failed the people in doing their Constitutional duty back then. We hope they will do the right thing now.
Did Trump get impeached? Yes! The House has spoken and voted to impeach him, again. The next step in the process is for the Senate to vote for conviction. This was not successful the first time around. There is enough evidence this time for them to do the right thing.
There is a debate among politicians to simply wait until he leaves office in a week. Why not invoke the 25th Amendment? As we have seen, Pence does not have the backbone to do it, nor rally the necessary Cabinet members to support him. Why impeach him? As we have witnessed, it is dangerous to allow Trump to stay in power. Impeaching Trump is the only way to force him out and start to ensure our safety as Americans. His actions cannot go unpunished!
