Warning… Spoilers below!
On The Resident Season 6 Episode 9 “No Pressure No Diamonds”, Cricket brings his friend Wolf, who is bleeding out his arm, in to be seen at Chastain. Conrad does not believe Wolf or Cricket when they claim that a Maine Coon caused the wounds.
Padma is finally getting her self-care day and AJ is going to take care of the twins before the hospital’s important surgery today. Devon will be performing a titanium rib cage implant, the first to be done in the United States. It took just 3 days for the titanium rib cage to be built!
Sam, the designer of the titanium rib cage, introduces Devon to Gina. Gina is wanting to make a documentary about Devon’s patient, Tessa, and the implant surgery process. When Devon asks Kit and Randolph for permission, they agree, with the stipulation that they have final, creative control.
Leela pulls Kit to the side and asks her point-blank about the nickname Hands of Destruction and Death (HODAD) for Randolph. Leela has seen the newspaper’s headline and is upset that she wasn’t made aware of the situation.
Wolf starts crashing and Conrad demands to know what really caused his wounds. AJ attempts to drop the twins off at daycare, unknowing that they do not take babies under 10 months of age. AJ is assisting with the rib cage implant surgery in just a couple of hours. He brings the babies to work with him when he runs out of all other options.
Wendy, Tessa’s daughter, reads the negative article about Randolph. She argues with Kit about the level of Randolph’s competence and says that Kit is not an impartial judge. She is his wife. She tells kit that she will not let her mother have the surgery performed if Randolph is involved. Randolph backs out of the surgery and asks Kit to step in and help AJ in the OR. Randolph starts to black out and almost faints while reading the newspaper article about him.
Cricket finally discloses to Conrad that he and Wolf run a home zoo just like their Idol, Joe Exotic the Tiger King. He admits that it was probably a lion that caused Wolf’s wound, but Conrad confirms that Wolf is suffering from a reaction to a Brazilian scorpion’s venom.
When Tessa develops a complication, even before her surgery, Kit assists Devon and AJ rushes Tessa into the OR for emergency surgery. Devon cancels the documentary, so there are no distractions inside the OR. Sam calls Devon immediately after he reads the article about Randolph and threatens to back out of their partnership. Billie is called in to help assist Kit and AJ with Tessa’s surgery. On the operating table, Tessa begins crashing again.
Kit and AJ are able to stabilize Tessa and Devon tells them to proceed with the titanium rib cage implant. Randolph assists Conrad and Leela with Wolf’s complications. Wolf needs emergency surgery. Conrad confronts Randolph about questioning his own abilities as a surgeon. Randolph steps up and saves Wolf’s life, all while the documentary cameras were rolling without his knowledge. Conrad tells Randolph that the documentary will prove that Randolph is an extraordinary surgeon. Kit and AJ are able to place the titanium rib cage successfully inside of Tessa.
Where Is Padma
AJ finds the twins with Billie in an empty ER room. She is very emotional and brings up Trevor. Conrad chastises Wolf and Cricket about their home-ran zoo. Conrad reports them to Animal Control and Care.
Randolph is honest with Kit and tells her that he has been having minor episodes and believes his MS is progressing. Randolph wants to go back to Minnesota for more treatment. AJ heads to Padma’s house to drop the twins off. When he takes the twins inside, he notices that the house is too empty. After checking the whole house, AJ realizes that Padma never came back home. AJ tries to call Padma’s cell phone but it goes straight to voicemail.
