Watch The Peripheral Season 1 Episode 8 Finale “The Creation of a Thousand Forests”
Previously on The Peripheral Season 1 Episode 7, Flynne, Burton, and Conner meet with Lowbeer and are put to the test. Meanwhile, Ella’s life is in danger, and Tommy deals with the Sheriff and Corbell Pickett his own way.

On The Peripheral Season 1 Episode 8 Finale, Flynne is by Conner’s side as he recovers in the hospital in their timeline after he was killed in the peripheral. Conner told her that playing the game was better because you could get a “do-over.” In real life, you don’t…
554 Hours
Meanwhile, Tommy called in for authorities to help with the deadly scene at the Pickett residence. He cleaned up the blood on his boot and was alerted that Corbell was still alive! Suddenly, authorities learned of the shooting at the clinic and assumed the suspect was their shooter.
When he arrived, Ella told him that Reece was killed and the shooter possibly killed Sheriff Jackman. He hesitated but confirmed it (since he was the one who had killed the Sheriff!)
In the future, Inspector Lowbeer presented an alliance with Flynne, Burton, and Conner. Flynne bartered to re-heal her mother. However, Lowbeer claimed that her team couldn’t do anything else to help her mother. She said Ella had about 554 hours or 23 days to live!
Flynne left the peripheral and was distraught that they did not keep their promise to cure her mother. Burton exited to speak with her. Later on, Flnne spoke with her mother, who used a story of her deceased father to help strengthen and console her.
The Truth
Cherise met with Ash about the data Aelita stole. She informed her that the data was inside Flynne’s brain! Ash forms an alliance with Cherise in an effort to stop Lev and kill him to protect her brother. Cherise declared to rid Flynne, her family, and her entire town to save her research…
Wilf and Flynne on The Peripheral Season 1 Episode 8 Finale
Flynne returned to her peripheral to speak with Wilf, who was apologetic that he lied to her about her mother’s treatment. He shared that he felt that Aelita was dead and about his rough childhood. She connected with him to access his thoughts about various people in his life, including how he felt about her. That’s when they got the idea to revisit a place from his childhood. There, he found Aelita’s younger peripheral. Aelita separated Wilf and Flynne by gunpoint to speak with her brother in private.
Aelita finally revealed herself to Wilf. She had removed her implant, and she lost her immunity boost as a result. Aelita told him the truth behind the implants… it was a way for them to suppress their memories. She made her younger peripheral dig up a skull in the ground and told him that Lev’s father was responsible for killing over 5 million people in the camps in fear of a plague. Aelita formed an army and was prepared to revolt using the data inside of Flynne’s head!
Rebooting
Jasper, Buddy, Cash, and Atticus discussed taking over should Corbell pass. The drunken group antagonized Jasper. While driving them home, they all passed out, so he stopped his SUV on the train tracks. He called his wife, Billy Ann, and explained that he finally understood mistaking kindness for weakness. She made him rethink his plot when the train raced done the tracks. He tried to get inside the truck, but the keys were inside. The glass was bulletproof, so he couldn’t break it. The men wouldn’t wake up and smashed into them, exploding the vehicle and killing them all!
The next morning, Tommy visited Flynne with news from Homeland Security advising that a local militia planned to blow up a nearby missile silo! Flynne went back to her peripheral to speak with Ash and learned that she knew Cherise was going to torch her entire state. Flynne learned that the data in her head was attached to her DNA and was the reason behind her seizures. She vowed not to let Cherise blow up her world.
Flynne visited Conner and Lowbeer for help. She devised a plan to sever the connection to her stub and open a new one. They would have access to all of the data and avert devastation in her world from the Jackpot. However, she didn’t want Burton involved because he would try to stop her. Lowbeer gave her the location to complete her plan.
Flynne on The Peripheral Season 1 Episode 8 Finale
She forced her way inside and found a stopwatch. Cherise discovered her presence and ordered peripherals to attack her. Flynne maimed them. Cherise accessed one of the peripherals to speak with Flynne. However, Flynne had accessed the control panels. It was access to time. She set it to 2032 and then destroyed the stopwatch! Cherise couldn’t tell where Flynne would be moving forward but Flynne knew exactly where Cherise would be.
She returned to Conner to ask for his help with sniping someone. Making it look like Lowbeer sent someone on Cherise’s behalf. Conner agreed to help her. Flynne vowed to kill Cherise…
Conner sets up as a sniper on The Peripheral Season 1 Episode 8 Finale
Flynne returned to her world, counted backward from ten, and had Conner execute her! Suddenly, she awoke in the future, ready to speak with Lowbeer, who told her, “So… Shall we get to work?”
The Peripheral Ending Explained
Flynne's plan was to "reboot" her peripherial like in a SIM game. Her theory was that if she was killed in her timeline, she could reboot inside of an alternative timeline (in 2032) which Cherise wouldn't be able to track her. Thereafter, she can revisit the future to track down and kill Cherise and save her family!
