Watch The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 3 “A Big Sign”
Previously on The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 2, on their first day as surgical attendings, Dr. Shaun Murphy and Dr. Alex Park are introduced to the first-year residents they will be overseeing, Dr. Danica Powell and Dr. Daniel Perez, who make quite the first impression. Meanwhile, Lim returns to work while facing her new reality and the emotions surrounding the changes.
Warning… Spoilers below!
On The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 3, Shaun had OCD when Lea didn’t pre-clean the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. They wanted to plan a dinner party since they hand new plate ware…
Review Of The Review
Dr. Lim demanded to review her own case file after the board review. Dr. Park and Dr. Allen caught a case of a young woman, Katie, who injured her wrist. She was bipolar, and she had to be restrained. Meanwhile, Dr. Allen spotted Dr. Perez in the locker room and was crushing on him.
Dr. Reznick and Shaun consulted Julianne (portrayed by April Grace), who injured her ankle. Julianne was a famed marriage counselor and sold him on the importance of setting the foundation in the first year of marriage. A few memory mishaps made the physicians want to perform an MRI on her brain.
Meeting Of The Divorced
Shaun and Lea are experiencing everyday struggles as a married couple. So, Shaun wrangles all of his divorced colleagues together to pour out their struggles in their failed marriages so he can dissect and apply them to his. Dr. Lim informs him that the best way to fix issues in his marriage is to talk with his wife, not assess the issues of others.
Julianne had a brain tumor. Shaun started to treat her with a special brain mapping device, and he introduced Lea to the therapist. She was unknowingly entered into a therapy session where he laid out the things that annoyed her. They had a breakthrough… divide and conquer.
Lim questioned Dr. Glassman about Shaun overriding his decision in the OR.
Out-Of-Body Experience
Katie was released from her restraints by Dr. Powell, and Katie got away. She was found in the chapel. Her parents had wrestled with her care decision, yet her mother’s decision trumped her father’s because he was fed up of her episodes. Park noticed something in the way she walked, which prompted a CT scan. They determined she had fluid on the brain, causing her symptoms. She wasn’t bipolar. Her parents were regretful that a sickness caused her episodes- not mental illness.
While in surgery, Julianne crashed, and Shaun was able to stabilize her. Afterward, she described how she had died and experienced an out-of-body experience before surgeons pulled her back to life. However, Shaun didn’t believe in the spiritual but the science and felt she simply needed more evaluation.
Amputated
Shaun and Lea got a chance to talk, and she confessed his OCD made her feel like she was under a microscope. Yet they talked it out.
Shaun suspected Julianne had two tumors. She told doctors about how she wanted to reunite with her husband, giving up her will to live. However, Perez encouraged her to push on as her therapy helped the hospital staff.
Katie’s mother and father had a fallout over her care. While she was in a coma, Powell shared her similar experience with Katie’s mother. After being injured on a Navy ship, her leg had to be amputated, and her parents initially grappled over the decision. Long story short… her ordeal ultimately brought the family closer.
Lim confronted Glassman, again, and he admitted that he was angry and didn’t agree with Shaun changing his decision. Lim felt she had an ally because everyone had sided with Shaun’s decision.
Medicine Only
Julianne gave Shaun final words of encouragement before going into surgery. She immediately started to crash and ultimately she died!
When Katie recovered from surgery, her father was there for her, and her mother embraced her.
Later on, Shaun allowed Lea to do the dishes her own way. He presented her with a huge sign stating, “You’re doing everything right! I Love You!”
Lim confronted Shaun about the complications of her surgery. She didn’t want to hear about his personal life and vice-versa. As his boss, she only wanted to speak about medicine moving forward!
