Warning… Spoilers below!

On The Chi Season 5 Episode 1 Premiere, Keisha’s eyes roll to the back of her head as someone is eating her out while under the covers. To everyone’s surprise, it’s not Christian but her old fling/bestie… Emmett! The two are going at it until Emmett is jolted from his wet dream by Tiff with her bags packed and ready to go! He tries to stop her but they’ve been having marital problems for too long and she’s headed to her mother’s with their son. His boner leaves her to believe that dream didn’t include her…

Catching Up

While Kevin and Lynae played video games and vaped, they almost get busted by Dre who yells at them to get to school.

Trig, Shaad, and Jake share and pray over breakfast. (However, Imani portrayed by Jasmine Davis is not present. It seems the character will be written off the show for refusal to adhere to Covid mandates.)

Jada and Suede wake together (and she looks healthy with a full head of hair- beating cancer!) Though their relationship looks like it’s on the rocks judging by Jada’s facial expression…

When the old gang met up, Jake dropped Jemma off on the north side for school and he was excited about joining the basketball team yet his girl was inattentive to his passion.

At the R.O.C.K. center, Tracy, Trig, and Shaad break up a fight between Bakari (portrayed by Ahmad Nicholas Ferguson) and another teen. They scold them about brawling over blocks none of them own. They made them apologize to Tracy and asked them to volunteer at the center. When they left, Tracy admitted to Trig and Shaad that she saw Bakari kill Ronnie! Saying he was nearby when she was standing over Ronnie’s body and he said, “That’s for Coogie!” (What Tracy doesn’t know is that Kevin accidentally shot Ronnie.) Tracy wanted to condemn the young man but Trig convinced her not to condemn the people they were trying to save.

When Tiff got to her mother’s house, Dolly (portrayed by Shariba Rivers), scolded Tiffany for her choice of an open marriage forcing her back to her house.

Keisha embarked on a new chapter in her life by going to college and taking her son, Lil Ronnie, with her.

Emmett sought his father, Darnell (portrayed by Rolando Boyce), for his advice to win Tiff back. He advised they get drunk and talk (and cry) about it…

Trig and Shaad went to the jewelry store to pick out Imani’s ring and Shaad was proud of him and thankful that Imani accepted him after a rocky start last season. When Trig signed for the ring, Shaad forgot Trig’s real name is Victor, then blurted out, “We had to call you something because you was shootin’ n*ggas left and right!” As they left the store they discussed Imani’s return from St. Louis the next day. She was there taking care of her ailing mother…

Meanwhile, a drunken Emmett asked his inebriated father does he dream about sex with other women and he admitted he thought of Jada while having sex with Dom to get off. Emmett was disgusted and left for Tiffany’s mother’s house but threw up in her yard as he approached and Dolly saw him and cursed him out.

Emmett clutched their picture and had a chance to talk with his wife. He urged her to come home but she said she needed time. Ultimately she told him she doesn’t think she wants to be his wife anymore!

Suede asked Jada about moving in together. She was unsure and needed time to think…

Keisha came over to see Tiff at her mother’s and Tiffany told her what she said to Emmett. The conversation shifted towards Keisha’s fling, Christian, though Keisha wanted to focus on school and her son. Meanwhile, Rob texted Tiff and she got all smiley with his exchange.

At the basketball tryouts, Jake sucked and he got cut. Jemma arrived late to see him get canned. He was angry and bit her head off, upset he didn’t feel good at something.

At the restaurant, Emmett sang his heart out to his version of Carl Thomas’ “I Wish” while making a playlist. Trig surprised him and Emmett confessed that Tiffany left him. Trig was confirming his barbecue joint was still available for his proposal to Imani. Suddenly, someone threw a brick threw Trig’s G Wagon window! He spotted Bakari who laughed about it while claiming not to do it. Trig got so upset at him, then punched him and choked him until he gained control of himself. Another teen was with Bakari and recorded it all, Trig walked it off…

Kevin, Jake, and Papa have fellas talk on The Chi Season 5 Premiere

Kevin, Jake, and Papa have fellas talk on The Chi Season 5 Premiere

Kevin, Jake, and Papa played video games and they addressed the elephant in the room regarding Jake’s terrible tryouts. He assumed that he would make it without practice or skills. The convo turned towards Papa’s podcast and he scolded his friends for not listening and supporting him.

Keisha left Christian a voice message telling him that she was focusing on school and her son rather than a relationship…

When Tiff got in she was startled by her mother up late drinking. She FaceTimed Rob and he invited her to stay at his place. She didn’t want to be his live-in f*ck buddy yet he told her he wasn’t after that.

Suede really wanted to move in with Jada and purposely neglected to fix her showerhead so she relaxed in a bath. Afterward, she told him that she really enjoyed living alone and he took it as she wants him to be his glorified TaskRabbit, so he left.

Want That Old Thang Back

Shaad woke Trig up to show him the video of him slapping Bakari around. The comments dragged him and cancel culture wanted to cancel the community leader. Shaad wanted to chat with the youth because he used to be him…

Jemma stayed at home in need of a mental health day and her father, Marcus, checked on her. He wanted a deeper relationship with her and she opened up to him regretting that she should have stayed with Kevin. He gave her great fatherly advice on how to get boys to appreciate her. That meant giving Jake space. If he didn’t miss her, then leave him alone. If he returns, he has to conform to her code of conduct.

At the school’s first basketball game, Papa was to announce the new team. Though, he clowned Jake in front of the crowd about his basketball skills then shifted his rhetoric about most of the audience lacking fathers in their lives. That got him boo’d and a teacher shoed him out of the way.

Trig and Shaad caught up to Bakari and confronted him about being baited. The teen bucked but they saw through his tough-guy facade and mandated he come work with them at the center.

Jada called over Bluetooth wearing Darnell to fix her faucet. She seduced him and he went in for the kiss, though she stopped him because they were with other people. Darnell didn’t care for their own significant others calling them “kids.” She still turned him down. He admitted that she was, “the one who got away.”

Meanwhile, with Aaron Kaplan’s “Once In A Thousand Years,” playing in the background, Keisha revisited Christian’s delayed response to her ending their relationship. He addressed how he felt about nice guys finishing last and that people considered him “weird” because he was too nice. He had no hard feelings towards her and was there for her and Lil Ronnie if needed.

Everyone prepared for Imani to enter the BBQ joint, Trig was down on one knee with the ring but her friend entered, not Imani. The friend told him that Imani saw the video of Trig beating up a teen and decided to stay in St. Louis and needed some time. Shaad tried to brighten the mood by asking the DJ to play the “Cupid Shuffle” but Trig couldn’t help but be disappointed.

  1. JustMe says:

Kevin did not kill Ronnie. He bounced back after that. True he shot him by accident but he did not kill him. Bakari did kill Ronnie. That’s the only mishap but everything else was on point. I was sad Keisha broke up with the “nice guy” I really liked him for her.
