At the climax of the 8th season, Raymond Reddington wanted Elizabeth Keen to end his life… but ironically, she was killed…
On The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 1 premiere, two years later FBI Agent Dembe Zuma was undercover with another agent on the docks. They were waiting to meet with a contact. They were intercepting a microchip shipment. However, to their surprise, The Skinner, and his minions crashed the party.
The Skinner did his homework on Zuma and found out that he’s FBI. He tested Zuma to see if he really was a Fed and ordered him to shoot his partner- and he did without hesitation. He noticed no blood which meant he was wearing a vest and faking dead. The Skinner put a bullet in his head and bailed demanding his goons interrogate Dembe, then kill him!
Zuma told the greedy men there was a 2-carat ring in the man’s pocket and one fetched it only to reveal a unique “S” tattoo on his hand. That was distraction enough for Zuma to disarm one man, killing them both! Dembe chased after the getaway truck, shooting at the driver, making him crash and suddenly the truck exploded, injuring Agent Zuma in the process…
Former FBI Agent Harold Cooper went to visit Zuma in the hospital. Dembe showed him the pic of the man’s tattoo on his hand and failed in identifying him. They both know who might be able to identify the man… but he hasn’t spoken to him in over a year.
The Skinner went to visit his former leader, Vincent Duke, and he grilled him about his ruthless tactics. He borrowed Duke’s golf club and went to Taipei, Taiwan to torture a man who gave him intel about the microchips. The man claimed he didn’t know the FBI was watching. The Skinner swung the golf ball at his [email protected]! He gave the location of Chen Yu Lan, the inventor of the microchip.
Wrangling The Old Gang
Cooper set out on a journey to communicate with Raymond “Red” Reddington who had gone dark since Elizabeth’s death. He found the elusive man in Havana, Cuba. He showed Reddington the tattoo and he claimed they were looking for a 700-year-old pirate. He described pirates known as The Skinner, this was the tattoo the man bore.
Cooper went to poach Agent Alina Park to help with the case. She no longer did fieldwork but trained agents. She was apprehensive at first but was obligated to join. Aram Mojtabai got a call from Cooper as well.
The old gang met at Cooper’s place and Ressler was the only one missing. He blamed Reddington for what happened to Elizabeth and didn’t want any part of the new mission.
Reddington came back to the States and visited Zuma in the hospital. Later on, he joined Cooper to help, and although he didn’t know who the current pirate was… she knows who his predecessor was Vincent Duke, and the investigation will start with him…
An Unworthy Successor
The team set up a sting to contact Vincent. They intercepted Duke, posing Alina and Aram as cops removing his armed guards, while Reddington swooped in to grab the man. While on the ride, he questioned the man about the microchips. Red pleaded with the man to save his former group from international threat but Duke claimed to not have control over his The Skinner- he was an unworthy successor.
Upgrading From Theft
Donald Ressler joined the team and took Aram’s place on the mission. Aram went to visit the investor at his home to finish his software pitch. he was interrupted by Cooper’s call. However, Cooper needed vital information instantly so Aram did some hacking from the investor’s computer and was caught in the process. He realized his calling was with the case rather than the company he was raising funding for…
The team found Chen and he was with his family in New York. However, The Skinner was there too and since he couldn’t steal the microchips, he was going after the man who made them. He kidnapped the man and his family. Cooper and his team tried to intercept them but were forced to back down as Chen’s daughter’s safety would be in jeopardy.
The Skinner’s real name his name was Graham Anderson, and his name was on The Blacklist… the list Elizabeth died for…
