Swift explains she recorded the album in isolation and features the help of a few musical heroes of hers. Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote the majority of the songs with her, and longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. Bon Iver sings a duet with her on “exile,” a heart-heavy social injustice song. The album features a light bedroom pop vibe which includes songs about breakups, unrequited love, and infidelity. Fans can find the bonus track “the lakes” on the Deluxe edition CD or vinyl versions. There are 8 different album cover artwork choices in the Deluxe editions.

“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world.”
