Warning… Spoilers below!

On Station 19 Season 6 Episode 4, it’s Halloween, and Station 19 is putting on an open house for trick or treating. When the team is called out to a carnival fire, Maya defies orders and plays the hero, resulting in Theo blowing up back at the firehouse, and Beckett tells Maya to go home and stop working so much. Meanwhile, Jack is visited by the ghost of Rigo, resulting at the end of one relationship and an adorable reunion.

A Morning of Mystery

Vic, Theo, and Travis try to rally votes for Travis’s campaign with the firefighters at the bar. Over at Eva’s place, Jack continues to drink away his sorrows while Eva continues taking his pain pills with him. When Jack is about to fall asleep with Eva, he hears a voice, and sees Rigo standing over him, asking what happened to his house.

Beckett seems in a cheerful mood on Halloween morning, which is freaking everyone out. Travis, Theo, and Vic arrive at the firehouse with Halloween decorations, and Travis talks about how bad the talk with the firefighters went; they all talked about how much Dixon has helped them. Vic gets money from him, revealing that they’re charging him anytime he complains about Dixon.

Sullivan tells everyone that he’s headed out to a romantic getaway with a lady he met on his dating app. He’s headed to Oregon to meet her, and everyone is shocked by his dedication to the drive.

Beckett Has Fun For The First Time Ever

Vic noticed she was the only woman firefighter at the bar, and they all walk in on Ben being upset on the phone. He reveals that Miranda is doing back-to-back surgeries and can’t bring Pru to trick or treating anymore. Everyone complains, desperate to see Pru in an adorable costume, but Ben says that Joey is still bringing her. He’s just upset that they aren’t spending their first Halloween with Pru together as a family. Vic defends Miranda, saying that she’s an amazing doctor and is doing what she loves and is good at, so Ben can’t be upset with her for that.

Everyone gathers around Ben to look at cute pictures of Pru. They gush over her, until Beckett scares the life out of them by hovering behind them in a clown mask.

Beckett tells the crew that Station 19 is hosting its annual trick-or-treating event, and he wants everyone to do their best. He also wants them to have fun, and pulls a prank on Maya, dumping what’s supposed to be blood all over her. She isn’t impressed, but Beckett is having a blast.

Relationships Thrive, Relationships Fall

Sullivan arrives to meet his mystery woman, which turns out to be Chief Ross.

Rigo laughs at Jack, practically losing his mind at his presence. Jack wakes up Eva to make sure he’s not losing his mind, and she wants to hook up then and there. Jack can’t really be into it, though, because Rigo is sitting on the bed right next to them.

Maya’s hair is turned slightly red because Beckett had used food coloring, so no matter how often she showered, it didn’t help. Carina laughs at her and tries to joke with Maya, saying that’s what she has to do instead of crying, but Maya walks away, not feeling it at all.

Sullivan and Chief Ross joke around and get close, and Chief Ross asks how his dates are going with the women from the apps. Sullivan reveals that he hasn’t been on any and is shocked by the question. He asks if she’s been on dates, and she reveals that she has been, joking that there can be a little truth in their lie. Sullivan isn’t impressed, though, and gets up to go on a walk.

A New Face

A man walks into Station 19 with cookies and tells Andy that he’s looking for Travis. Travis arrives at that exact moment, and the man introduces himself as Eli Stern (portrayed by Rob Heaps), and wants to be Travis’s campaign manager. Andy says Vic is already his manager, and Eli says that she can’t help Travis get votes outside of the firefighting circle. Eli talks himself up to Travis and tells him how much he can help him in the campaign. Andy thinks this guy’s got a lot of nerve and too much confidence, but when Eli leaves, Travis looks like something that Eli said got to him, as if he’s actually considering it.

Theo asks Maya if she’s working so much overtime since Beckett is being so hard on her. Theo tells Maya that he thinks she’s stretched too thin, and that he understands that pressure. Maya doesn’t like this, and says that this isn’t deep-rooted trauma to bond over, she just insulted the wrong person and is now paying for it. She defends herself, saying she’s a great firefighter.

They arrive at a carnival, where a guest beat up one of the workers because he was scared. Two workers come out and are play fighting with torches. While they’re fighting, a flame flies off of one of the torches and lands in the corn maze. Theo and Maya rush in there.

Everyone Deals With Grief Differently

Jack goes to the bar, and sees Rigo again. He freaks out, and Eva wonders what he’s on, especially when he tells Eva that he’s seeing Rigo there. Jack admits that something is wrong with him, and Eva says that he’s right, and claims that she was just desperate and lonely when she slept with him, but he’s a loser.

Sullivan returns with food, and Chief Ross is confused on why he’s mad because they agreed to this. Sullivan says he doesn’t like lying, but Chief Ross reminds him that her job and integrity is on the line. He isn’t in the mood to talk, though.

Andy finds Carina doing Maya’s laundry, and Carina says that she’s missing her wife. Andy reveals that Maya has always worked more when she’s upset, that’s just how she is. Andy reminds Carina that Maya loves her, even if she’s working through her stuff in her own, weird way.

Jack tells Rigo he feels guilty enough about everything, and Rigo tells Jack that he isn’t a murderer, he didn’t listen to orders and that’s why he died. Rigo wonders what dug so deep into Jack that he’s hallucinating the man he thought he murdered, and Jack says he doesn’t deserve any happiness, and that nobody needs him. Rigo reminds Jack that he gets to live, and that he’s wasting his life away. Rigo says that talking to Jack like this is worse than death.

Going Against Orders

The firefighters arrive at the carnival, where the corn maze fire has grown exponentially. A woman runs out, saying her son, Aiden, is missing in the corn maze. Beckett tries to get a ladder to get an overhead view, and Maya starts climbing the nearby Ferris wheel, telling Beckett that she can get the view from up there.

The crew helps people out of the corn maze. Beckett orders for Maya to come down and help them, but she ignores him and tells Vic and Theo that there are 4 workers on the other side of them. She leads them to the lost workers, but their exit bursts into flames. Maya tells them a new route to go, and ignores as Beckett continues to shout for her to climb down. All of the sudden, the generator blows, and Maya loses her footing on the ladder.

Once Maya finally regains her footing, she sees two other victims going the opposite way of the exit in the maze. She climbs down to help them, and as she jumps to the ground, she hurts her ankle in the process. This doesn’t stop her from running into the maze, though.

Beckett reminds Maya that she was on triage, so she shouldn’t be in the maze, but after she reveals she’s after two lost people, he sends in backup.

One Step Forward

Chief Ross and Sullivan play chess and talk about Chief Ross’ childhood and family. She finally gets him to talk, and reveals she went on one, miserable date. All she wanted was to be with him the entire time. She feels connected to him because of what they’ve been through together. She tells Sullivan that she can’t imagine him going on other dates, and Sullivan kisses her as a response.

Eli shows up again as Carina and Andy are decorating. He wants Andy to help him convince Travis to let him be his campaign manager, and Eli bugs her enough to get her to agree.

Jack apologizes to Eva, but Eva says that she’s done with him. Rigo tells Jack to walk away, but Jack tells him off. Only, since Rigo isn’t there, so the guy defending Eva gets upset, thinking Jack is talking to him, and punches Jack in the face. Eva seems to be enjoying it too much.

Everything Comes Back Around Sooner or Later

Maya finds Aiden and his father. His father wants Maya to leave him, because he’s hurt and she can’t carry both of them. They’re trapped in by fire, and no response for how close Theo is to help. Aiden’s father tells Aiden that he loves him, and Maya watches and covers them up. She uses her extinguisher to get rid of as many flames as possible, but it quickly runs out. Maya starts dragging both Aiden and his father through the corn maze. They eventually run into Theo, who helps Maya get them both out to safety.

Maya tells Ben that she doesn’t need her ankle to be checked out once they get back to the firehouse. An angry Theo tells Maya that she made a dumb decision and could’ve led them to Aiden from where she was, she didn’t have to dart in there. He claims that she wanted to be a hero.

Beckett tells everyone they did good work, and Theo goes off on him, saying he doesn’t know how to be a good leader. He points out how much Maya has been working. Maya says she’s fine, but Theo turns on her, saying her wife could be pregnant while she’s overworking and killing herself. As he’s storming out, Theo tells Beckett that people die when captains are too focused on their egos, so he needs to step it up.

Beckett tells Maya that she’s off shift, and says that she’s being a risk to herself and the team. He orders her to go home, and if he figures out she’s working too much again, he’ll send her back to the academy. Maya says she understands with a blank expression as she brushes past him.

Ghosts of the Past

Maya finds Carina eating a bunch, and Carina wonders if she’s pregnant. Maya tells Carina that she shouldn’t work like this, so she’ll be going home. Maya says sleeping at home is exactly what she needs, and kisses Carina.

At the open house, everyone gushes over Pru dressed up as a soccer player. Eli shows up dressed as Big Ben, with his niece London. Andy tells Eli that she didn’t put in a good word for him with Travis, and Eli wonders why not, since he’s so charming.

Vic talks to Andy, and wonders why there aren’t any little girls dressed as firefighters. She throws out the idea of them starting a camp for girls to learn about firefighting. Andy is so in on it, and gets excited. While they’re celebrating, Andy catches a glimpse of Jack sitting on the floor. He tells them that he wanted to be there since he loves Halloween, and wanted to see Pru. Andy tells Jack that he needs to pull himself together to see her, but Jack says he can say he’s just in a costume. They lead him to Pru, who smiles and gives Jack a big hug. Jack sees Rigo nod at him, before finally disappearing.

Sullivan set up a romantic night with Chief Ross, and doesn’t want to wait another three months for a night like this. She tells him to just enjoy the time that they do have together.

Beckett makes himself a sandwich, and sees Ben lying on the ground, seemingly unconscious. Beckett rushes to him, and calls for help, but Ben jumps up and scares him. Beckett laughs and helps him up, but drops his sandwich in the process.

Meanwhile, Maya sits in the showers at the firehouse and breaks down into tears.
