In order to understand season 5, we must examine Snowfall season 4…
We saw Franklin recover from his gunshot injuries, which left him bound to a cane. His running of the day-to-day activities was shifted to Louie. Their operation ran like a business. They had inventory of the purest cocaine at the lowest prices- coming directly from the U.S. Government. They kept records of employees, henchmen, and even police payoffs. They supplied wholesale product to the major dealers in South Central, Los Angeles. However, those receiving wholesale drugs are at war with each other. And it’s garnering national attention.
The year is 1985, and President Ronald Reagan has won his re-election campaign proclaiming it is “morning again in America” and vowing war on drugs in America. However, his previous demand led to the CIA funding an illegal war in South America. This funding allowed the flow of cocaine in LA, and since the recipients were Black Americans, mainstream society would not care when things got out of hand. The profits from the sale of drugs went to purchase weapons for The Contras in Nicaragua. In Snowfall, Franklin Saint was the sole recipient of illegally smuggled cocaine, which eventually was turned into highly addictive crack cocaine. This symbolized the start of a deadly controversial epidemic.
In the fourth season, we witnessed Franklin go through highs and lows of running his drug operation. From preventing gang wars to siding with the lesser evil gang rivals, to police harassment and extortion, he expanding his legal real estate business using laundered money, he was betrayed and publicly exposed, reeled from key lieutenants being shot, cleaned up loose ends, and had to choose between his business and his family.
In Snowfall season 5, we can speculate Franklin’s expansion into other cities such as Little Rock, Arkansas. As his empire grows, so does his risk and exposure. And since he was singled as public enemy number one, his moves have to be more calculated. We know the lengths to which Franklin is willing to go to protect this operation. We can only expect him to be more guarded, less accessible, and even darker with his Chess board moves. Saint has to juggle dealing with the negative effects of being a known drug kingpin. And let’s not forget the CIA may only be able to protect him from so much harm, and when they’re done with him. he can be thrown under the bus. Ultimately, Franklin will go down for his actions… it’s a matter of when…
Will Lucia Return to Snowfall?
Lucia is the person responsible for getting Gustavo involved in drug sales and she disappeared since season 2. Gustavo has been searching for her, even enlisting the help of the CIA. Once the initial word returned that she was not found, he gave up. However, in the season finale, more evidence surfaced that she was located. Gustavo is on a new path, and he just may link up with his former partner and love interest in Snowfall season 5!
What Will Happen To Mel?
The Snowfall season 4 finale was such a suspenseful episode! We all thought Franklin was going to kill Mel because he does not like to leave any loose ends. Just as he exited her, he paused, reached at his side only to set his cane down, and walk away without a limp. This means he was faking the handicap this whole time or he recovered at some point and paraded as if he was still injured. We know Franklin was turning darker, so what else was he hiding? My prediction is that Mel will receive another visit from Saint in the new season…
Snowfall Season 5 Synopsis
Set in the summer of 1986, Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and his entire family are rich beyond their wildest dreams, on the verge of having everything they’ve ever wanted… right as the ground begins to fall out from under their feet. The sudden and tragic death of basketball star Len Bias makes the rock cocaine epidemic front-page news, the target of both Democrat and Republican lawmakers.
Law enforcement is on a warpath and the militarization of the L.A.P.D. continues as police and politicians decide the only way to deal with this growing scourge is through force — and the creation of the new C.R.A.S.H. (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums) units. The streets of South Central Los Angeles have never been so dangerous as the Saint family navigates the police, the warring gangs, and the CIA.
Amidst all of this, the biggest threat the family faces are each other as they try not to let greed, resentment, and ego tear them all apart.

Snowfall Season 5 Speculations
Here are some theories of what we think will happen in the next season…
- Either we will learn that Cissy knew Reed wouldn’t let Alton live and proposed fleeing so Franklin would not have to witness his father killed in front of him, forcing his hand to retaliate against Reed.
- Or Franklin planned it when he allows his mother to come to the meet.
- Franklin will eventually deal with Mel.
- Louie and Jerome will part ways with Franklin to dominate Little Rock, Arkansas.
- Leon may exit the game, but something will jolt him back.
- Franklin will be exposed to the public as the king of crack!

- Brandon Jay McLaren as Det. Buckley. He will portray a detective with the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (C.R.A.S H.) Unit, who is tough on the outside but constantly battling his own demons including drug addiction and failing marriage.
- DeVaughn Nixon as Kane Hamilton, a powerful and manipulative ex-con who used to be an integral part of the neighborhood. He’s almost like an older brother figure for Franklin (Damson Idris) and Leon (Isaiah John), he’s also actually Kevin’s (Malcolm Mays) biological brother!
- Tiffany Lonsdale as Parissa. She’s strong-willed, powerful, educated, sexual, and with a droll and dry sense of humor, this former physician has a history with Teddy (Carter Hudson) and tends to him after he’s been hurt.
- Devyn Tyle as Veronique. She’s smart, ambitious, with worldly sophistication but also appreciates the small things and is not completely defined by her drive.

LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2021 – FX has renewed its acclaimed drama series Snowfall for season five, it was announced today by Eric Schrier, President, FX Entertainment.
Through the first three episodes of season four, Snowfall is enjoying an incredible +41% increase in Total Viewers, averaging 5.1 million Total Viewers across all platforms. Five episodes remain in the current 10-episode fourth season, which airs Wednesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on FX and available for streaming the next day on FX on Hulu. Season four concludes on April 21st. The acclaimed drama series created by the late Academy Award® and Emmy® nominated director John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Showrunner Dave Andron.

Snowfall’s fourth season continues tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 24 at 10 pm ET/PT on FX with episode 6, “Say a Little Prayer.” Franklin (Damson Idris) suffers the consequences of his choices. Jerome (Amin Joseph) and Louie (Angela Louis) expand the business. Teddy (Carter Hudson) is sent reeling. Irene delivers an ultimatum. In the fourth season of Snowfall, business is booming. It’s January 1, 1985.
