Monster Musume Season 2 – Release Date, Plot, News & More

Monster Musume Season 2 will carry on the works of the Japanese mangas written by Okayado. The first season hit our screens in 2015 and became an instant hit. With the anticipation brewing for a second season, you can find out everything you need to know right here.

Is Monster Musume Cancelled?

While there had been rumors that the show may get canceled, this is not going to be the case. The pandemic has merely delayed the release date of Monster Musume Season 2.

Monster Musume Plot

Monster Musume introduces the audience to the life of Kimihito Kurusu. He is a student who is left in charge of his parent’s house while they are overseas. Kimihito is forced to volunteer on an exchange program, much to his annoyance. As part of that, he ends up putting up with another girl called Miia.

It was not his choice to do so, but rather, Kuroko Smith (head of the Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act) brought Miia to his door by mistake. Given neither of them had the heart to turn her away, she ends up living with Kimihito. Unbeknownst to him, he inadvertently joins an ‘Interspecies Cultural Exchange’ program.

Why is this significant? Well, it turns out that Liminals (creatures) have been mingling in society. They often frequent student households. Not only that, they are prohibited from harming or getting romantically involved with humans. With that in mind, Miia’s introduction throws a spanner in the works.

She is no ordinary person. In fact, she is a Lamia (snake-like being). As events transpire, Miia vies for Kimihito’s affection, blurring the lines between human and mythological relationships. And yet, his altruism is the reason why he continues to attract the attention of everyone.

With Miia already settled in, Kuruko continues to bring further creatures. As a total of seven creatures move in, they continue to wrestle to win Kimihito over. Things become even more competitive as a change in law creates an exception for a creature to marry a human.

Kimihito is now faced with that very prospect. So who will win over his heart, and if so, what will the consequences be?

Season 2 Expectations

Monster Musume Season 2 – Liminals

Kimihito’s life is never going to be the same. In the new season, Monster Musume season 2, we can expect an all-out battle between the creatures to secure Kimihito’s hand in marriage.

That is just the start, though. There is the prospect of new characters that would have similar feelings towards Kimihito. This would fall in line with the plot lines in the mangas.

We may also see a change in Kimihito’s role. At the start of the first season, he is just a student at the behest of his parents. However, later in the mangas, he ends working on a farm. Could this be mirrored in the series too?

As he develops into a man, the audience can expect Kimihito to have an inner conflict. Who will he choose to love, or will he do the unthinkable and walk away? And yet, either action will have dire consequences.

Monster Musume Season 2 Release Date

An official release date has not been put out, due to the pandemic. However, the season is expected to drop at the back end of this year.
