‘Loved To Death’ A True Crime Movie Premieres On TV One, Plus Cast Interviews

Loved To Death is based on true crime stories about a newly engaged couple whose lives are cut short when they are suddenly gunned down by a crazed ex-lover at a toll booth. It airs on TV One Sunday, July 21st at 7 pm CT.

Loved To Death stars Malinda Williams (Soul Food & The Wood), MC Lyte (Girls Trip), McKinley Freeman (Hit the Floor), Tobias Truvillion (Empire) and Chrystee Pharris (Passions). We recently spoke to the cast to get their perspectives on the film, their roles, the topic of domestic violence and much more. Watch our full interview which features exclusive clips from the movie above!

In the film Monica (Williams) falls in love with Jackson (Freeman.) In the beginning things are wonderful. Jackson cooks for her, surprises her with gifts, and takes her out on dates. However, he cannot keep a job and asks her to move in eventually. Despite her family’s warnings she allows him. Jackson’s lack of employment leads to insecurities and he starts being verbally, physically and mentally abusive towards Monica. Seeking a way out of the relationship, she strikes up a connection with fellow church member, Dre (Truvillion). Monica ultimately ends her relationship with Jackson and gets engaged to Dre, but Jackson is determined to win her back by any means necessary.

When asked about the topic of domestic violence Malinda says she would like viewers to understand the importance of the film and adds, “there’s a dichotomy between a man who abuses and a man who treats a woman like a queen. A very deep- deep chasm. And I really want people to understand the difference because there are a lot of people out there thinking they’re being loved when they actually are being mistreated.” The actress goes on to describe love-turned deadly relationships as, “I think it’s extremely tragic! The reason to tell this story… And I applaud TV One for bringing it to the screen so people can understand how situations like this can turn tragic. It is something that happens way too often in our society and it’s time we definitely deal with it.”

Loved To Death was based on the true story of the San Rafael Toll Bridge Slayings.
