Killing Eve Season 3 Synopsis
In the season 3 finale, Eve and Villanelle came head to head in one of the most anticipated showdowns of the show. Rather than getting the all-out fireworks that we had expected, there was a more poignant approach.
It seems Villanelle’s desire for killing has gone. Once she had done away with her mother, she was more focused on joining MI6 than living off blood money.
Meanwhile, the same cannot be said of Eve. Eve opens up to Villanelle and states that she brings out her darker side. One person’s quest for redemption has turned the other into wanting vengeance.
And as they walk away from each other, while standing on London Bridge, there seemed to be an anti-climax until the unthinkable happened. Eve and Villanelle turn back and face each other once again.
Could this be the moment that Villanelle hangs up her boots and leaves behind the assassin’s life by hooking up with Eve? The future of the show balances on the outcome of what happens next on the bridge, which is a mystery that the fourth season will attempt to uncover…
Killing Eve Season 4 Potential Plot
With that in mind, here are a few questions that the new season has to address. In the trailer for the fourth season, Villanelle can be seen conspicuously riding (together) and alone on a scooter. Does this mean that Eve and Villanelle have walked away from each other? Or worse, has Villanelle decided to finish off Eve once and for all?
The latter theory would have significance in light of the following. At the end of season 3, Villanelle met MI6 head, Carolyn. Rather than having a cup of tea, the two got straight down to business. Villanelle wants to work for them, but Carolyn is not so convinced. The latter would require her killer instinct if she were to work for a spy agency. So will Villanelle give up her killer ways, or will she simply redirect her services for MI6?
But much more than just deciding the fate of Villanelle, Carolyn has revenge on her mind. The killing of her son and former MI6 agent Kenny has left her with a thirst for retribution. She is determined to track down ‘The Twelve’— an organization that recruits assassins to kill people— and find out who authorized Kenny’s death.
Not only that, but Carolyn’s life is in the balance too. After she killed Paul, who had secretly been working as a spy for ‘The Twelve,’ will the organization enact some revenge on her? It is a matter of kill or be killed, and will the desire for truth end up with Carolyn following her son off this mortal coil.
Much in the same way, Konstantin, the double agent who was Villanelle’s handler during her time working for ‘The Twelve’, admitted to Carolyn that he was present when Kenny died. While he insisted that Kenny just fell off the roof by accident after being taken back by Konstantin’s admission that ‘The Twelve’ were after Kenny, is it possible to trust Konstantin’s account?
The trailer demonstrates that he cannot be, as he is seen being pushed into a river by what looks to be Kenny’s girlfriend, Audrey. Equally, the mystery surrounding ‘The Twelve’ has not been revealed.
Will we ever find out the ring leader? As reports state that the fourth season of the show will be the last, this is something that must be answered.
Finally, what was the outcome of Hugo? The MI6 counter-terrorism agent was left with a bullet wound in season 2, as Eve had to abandon him to look for Villanelle once ‘The Twelve’ had attacked him. But when she returned, his body was no longer there.
With so many plot holes that need clearing up, the fourth season cannot come soon enough!
