Jojo part 6 follows the journey of Jolyne, who is framed for a crime that she did not commit: murder. Her father is none other than Stardust Crusaders’ Jotaro Kujo. Having heard of the news, he discovers that she is being held at Green Dolphin Street Jail. This is a state-of-the-art prison dubbed ‘The Aquarium.’

Very few who enter, live to tell the tale. The charges look damming. Jolyne is resigned to the prospect of facing life in prison until the unthinkable happens. She grazes her finger against a fragment of a magical bow that was under the former possession of Dino. Within moments, Jolyne is equipped with Stand powers, in the form of, Stone Free. Jolyne is now the embodiment of a ‘Stone Ocean’ and equipped with getting out the ‘Aquarium.’

Having now developed incredible strength and speed, Jolyne gets to work on finding a way out. But she soon discovers that she was framed for a reason, much bigger than first thought. She must now use all her wits to navigate her way to freedom and clear her name.

Based on the manga, we can expect the following plot lines. Jojo part 7 is sandwiched between Stone Ocean and the latter Jojolion. It aims to move away from the other editions, as an independent start to a new universe. The scene is set in 1890. Stephen Steel (philanthropist) is holding a marathon across New York. The winner can be expected to pocket $50 million, which attracts competitors from all over.

Step forward: Johnny Joestar. He is a former jockey, left haunted by his career. He is half paralyzed, but that does not dampen his spirits. During an encounter with another competitor Gyro Zeppeli, Johnny realizes that Gyro’s steel balls allow him to walk. In an attempt to uncover the mystery behind Gyro’s technique, Johnny joins the race.

This begs the question, why would Johnny want to enter the race anyway? Well, it turns out that Johnny is a former Executioner for the Neapolitan Royalty. So in an attempt to win the race, Johnny hopes that the financial incentives can prevent the death of a young boy (Marco) at their hands. Marco has been accused of treason.

But as the race plays out, the duo discovers that all is not what it seems. The competitors will do anything to win that race, as corruption comes to the fore. Even the President of the United States may be complicit.

Jojo Part 7 (Steel Ball Run) Release Date

The release date is very difficult to anticipate. While there is a lot of enthusiasm for it, the complexity of the story requires significant production time. Animator Kohei Ashiya had reportedly remarked the following, “SBR would be really expensive to make since most of the action is horse racing and that is really hard to animate.”

“It would break the JoJo style of animation so he’d rather not use it. So I think it’s going to take a while after Stone Ocean (if we get it) to be animated.”

With that in mind, any potential release date can be expected sometime in 2022.
