Warning… Shocking spoilers below!
On Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 8, a super-secret project was going to commence in the OR. Everyone was warned to stay away. A famed surgeon, Dr. David Hamilton, is scheduled to have experimental brain surgery.
Grey went outside to regroup and Dr. Amelia Shepard had to encourage the surgeon of what they were about to do. They were about to perform a procedure on a world-renowned surgeon, drilling into his brain with a device that had just been invented, injecting a questionable fluid to cure an incurable disease.
However, David had a few complications that prevented him from surgery. A CT scan revealed he had a ruptured boul and needed emergency surgery.
After getting past the complication, they decided to move forward with the surgery as the good of the experimental procedure outweighed not performing it. So they decided to fix his boul first.
Dr. Jo ran into Dr. Shepard so Jo called Link, warning him to not get on his plane and rush to the hospital to tell the woman how he feels. Link came back to practice on Dr. Jo, what he would say to Dr. Shepard. She was taken by what he said, wishing it was meant for her…
Shepard saw Dr. Bartley while prepping for David’s surgery. She tried to talk to Dr. Pierce about her new girl crush but the woman was too busy managing the residents. Shepard caught up with Bartley, she reassured her about David’s procedure, calming the Amazon woman with a mediation technique and then they kissed outside. Suddenly, Link came and saw them. He didn’t confront them but he was crushed!
Here To Learn You
While Ben walked Miranda into the office, a young handsome physician, Dr. Jordan Wright, was trying to impress upon her. Dr. Richard and Dr. Bailey passed out assignments to their residents and Dr. Wright was assigned a procedure to use Webber’s famous surgical technique. Ironically, the young resident respectfully turned the surgery down and requested to shadow Bailey… he was there to learn from her. Thus, she was scrubbing in.
Wright showed impressive technique to Bailey and she questioned why he hadn’t performed it solo. He confessed that he was there to learn her.
Meanwhile, Dr. Levi Schmitt was assigned a routine surgery. Dr. Schmitt recognized his patient from a podcast he listened to. The surgery was going well and he was to perform the Webber technique. Though he got cocky, instead of waiting for Webber, he started without him and ruptured something in the man’s body and blood started gushing everywhere! The man bled out and died.
Bailey, Webber, and Pierce got to the OR demanding to know what happened. Another doctor explained on Schmitt’s behalf. Bailey made Schmitt man up and call the time of death. She held Webber personally responsible for his attendings’ defiance and negligence…
Over A Cliff
Dr. Cormac Hayes stopped in to visit his heart transplant patient, Faruq, and his mother, Meagan, was completely distraught but by his side. He asked her to go home and get some rest but she erupted at him, telling the doctor if her son died then so would she.
Dr. Teddy Altman and Dr. Owen Hunt were talking and suddenly got an alert about Faruq. His mother was hysterical with joy as they found a donor that matched!
Altman, Hunt, and Hayes went to personally transport the organ. On the trip back, they started to discuss Meagan’s unhealthy obsessive habits lately and suddenly the transport driver fainted from a stroke and the van flipped and crashed!
They landed on the edge of a cliff and needed to be careful when exiting, else they would roll-off. They were faced with the choice of waiting for help and losing the window for the heart or escaping. They tried to carefully escape but it made the car slide closer to the ledge.
Altman managed to get out with the heart, forced to leave Hunt and Hayes behind. Faruq was prepped for surgery, Altman got a ride and raced towards the hospital.
Hunt wanted Hayes to exit since he was closest to the window and gave his last will and testament verbally to him. Hayes just barely got out before the car slid off the cliff taking Hunt with it…
Stay tuned to Station 19 as the fire crew will have to rescue Dr. Hunt on the next crossover episode!
