Watch Good Sam Season 1 Episode 7 “Chronic Insult”

Previously on Good Sam Season 1 Episode 6, secrets revealed at a major fundraising gala for the hospital threaten to end a tenuous truce between Dr. Sam Griffith and her father, Griff. Also, cardiothoracic resident, Dr. Lex Trulie makes a decision that could alter her career trajectory.

On Good Sam Season 1 Episode 7, Sam wakes up at Caleb’s house. Sam and Caleb discuss the vote for chief and how Sam feels like she is ruining everything with Malcolm and her mom, Vivian. Caleb blurts out he loves her right after they hug and Sam acts like she didn’t hear it.

Sam meets up with Malcolm and they talk about her calling his mom. Sam gets pulled away to the ER by a page. She comes in and Griff sees a teenage track patient, Violet, who can’t breathe. Lex and Sam bump into each other and Sam apologizes. Lex just walks away.

Griff thinks the track star patient punctured her lung with her broken rib because she is eating too much soy which causes bones to break. Sam says she wants Griff to take lead on the heart surgery today. She also tells him she doesn’t want to be chief anymore.

Caleb asks Isan for his opinion on what to do after telling Sam he loves her. Malcolm meets up with Griff and Griff tells him that Sam is dropping out of the race for chief.

Sam talks to Isan about dropping out of the race for chief in Bernie’s lab. Violet’s labs come back and she has heart failure. Sam and Griff look at Violet’s heart pictures and see she needs a heart valve replacement. Sam explains that Violet needs a valve replacement but the soy isn’t helping. It is contributing to her ribs getting broken over and over.

Tina Kingsley (Malcolm’s mother) arrives on Good Sam Season 1 Episode 7

Malcolm asks Sam about dropping out when his mom, Tina walks up behind them. Tina explains she is here because of the call she received from Sam. She doesn’t want Griff in charge. Tina calls a meeting with Byron about Malcolm being Byron’s shadow and how she is not happy with Griff going to be in charge. She blames Byron for Malcolm turning against her.

Lex and Joey are treating a patient, April, who has spasms in her hands and a probable neurological disorder. They order testing. Lex and Joey find out that April isn’t having neurological problems so they order a stress test for her heart. Lex and Joey are giving April her stress test when she has an episode and screams that everything hurts.

Caleb, Isan, Sam, and Griff are all in the room for Griff’s first surgery as the lead. Right after a successful surgery his vision doubles and blurs and he drops his scalpel. Tina and Sam witness this and Griff acts as nothing happened. Griff experiences a second episode when no one is around.

Dr. Sam on Good Sam Season 1 Episode 7

Tina catches Sam in the hallway and brings up Griff dropping his scalpel. Sam says he is fine and if there was anything wrong with him it would be her job to bring it up.

Lex and Joey try to figure out what would be causing April severe pain and cramps.

Griff lays down after his surgery and Lex comes in to check on him. He says he is just resting. When she leaves, he gives her a broken tablet to give back to Donna that he dropped.

Malcolm finds his mom, Tina, in his office and asks her to leave. She explains that she divorced his father and not him. She had to leave. She is back now and trying to earn his trust. She offers Malcolm any help he needs.

Sam is performing Violet’s surgery since Griff bowed out. They find calcification around her heart and alarms go off.

Everyone at the nurse’s station jokes with Caleb about him telling Sam he loves her.

Griff brings his report in for Sam’s signature and she questions him about the scalpel incident. She explains that Tina saw it too and Griff blames the lights. Lex asks Sam about the scalpel incident and tells Sam she shouldn’t clear him to lead surgeries yet.

Alarms go off in Violet’s room. Her heart is failing and is rejecting the pig valve. Her body is having an allergic reaction to the valve. April is allergic to meat. Lex explains to April that she needs back surgery. She has a nerve that is causing all her chronic severe pain.

Sam and Lex confront Griff together about all the symptoms he’s been displaying and Sam says she is ordering bloodwork now. She tells Griff she will use Bernie so Tina won’t find out.

Sam and Malcolm ride in the elevator together and she tells him to give Tina a second chance.

While Sam drops off Griff’s bloodwork to Bernie he tells her he can test all Violet’s vitamins and supplements she takes daily. Violet becomes angry and blames her mother for making her be a vegan and taking all these supplements. She needs a whole new heart now because the supplements contain meat products and have been slowly damaging her heart.

Caleb walks in on Griff when he hears glass breaking. Griff has had another episode. Griff heads straight to the lab for his results…

Malcolm goes to his mom and tells her that he forgives her and is willing to work with her. He then goes to Sam and tells her that his mom is staying at the hospital and going to oversee outside candidates for the chief position. He tells Sam he will see her around and just walks out.

Caleb sees Sam and starts to tell her that this morning he said, “I love you” to her. Then he says, “I love you,” again. He walks away happy that he has gotten it off his chest and he knows he was heard this time.

Sam tells her dad about Tina’s plan to look for outsiders for the chief job. Griff tells Sam that she needs to jump back in the race. She knows he has gotten his bloodwork back and it’s not good. She orders him into imaging immediately. Sam brings Lex with her to imaging to watch what it will show for her dad’s future and health…

When Will Good Sam Come Back On?

Good Sam Episode 8 will return after a mid-season break. The show will return on Wednesday, March 23, 2022!

Sophia Bush (Sam Griffith) reunites with her “One Tree Hill” co-stars Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz. Their appearance marks the first time the actors have appeared on-screen together since “One Tree Hill” ended a decade ago.
