Warning… Spoilers below!
On FBI: International Season 2 Episode 1 Premiere, an American detective in Paris was approached by a man, and his jugular vein was severed, and he bled to death!
Agent Forrester contemplated the possible whereabouts of his rogue double agent mother and then headed to work. However, he was being tailed by a man who opposed Novikoff. Just as the man was about to fire on an unw=aware Forrestor, his faction swooped in, disarmed him, and took him away- thwarting his evil deed.
When Forrester gets into the office, our Fly Team meets their new Europol liaison, Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson (portrayed by Eva-Jane Willis). She replaces the now promoted Agent Katrin Jaeger (portrayed by Christiane Paul), who is in charge of all of western Europe. Agent Forrester was already acclimated with Smitty since he previously ran a flagship operation with her. The bust was so iconic that new FBI agents studied it at Quantico!
The joint teams get to work right away on a case involving a cop on a federal task force who is found dead in Paris. He was investigating a company (Red Raven) that was suspected of being a shell company and selling illegal arms between the U.S., France, and the Middle East. When the detective took the case up the international authorities ladder, he was killed!
The investigation leads to a whistleblower at the company, Corine. She was fearful of illegal weapons being sold by her employer, Keith Panzarasa. Agents searched the company’s shell office and just missed someone shredding paperwork and fried cellphones in the microwave. They recovered the company’s routers, and suddenly a man attacked Agent Vo while Agent Raines tussled with him. The mysterious man managed to flee. Agents noticed he had diplomatic license plates…
While on the hunt, Agent Raines used his computer recovery wizardry to extract information from a damaged router which led the Fly Team to the Fountainbleu just outside of Paris. The murdered cop, Detective Brandon Davis, had keys to the French chateau in his pocket.
Agent Kellett and Smitty investigated Det. Davis’ apartment and noticed he was onto a company that dealt in nuclear rod disposal. Just as Forrester was headed to the company, an armed faction hijacked a nuclear rod shipping truck, blocked the bridge, and opened automatic fire on the Fly Team before fleeing!
The team rushed to find the faction that stole nuclear materials which could be used to make a dirty bomb. The team found out that Keith Panzarasa got his legal diplomatic status from shady dealing in West Africa.
The team confronted the issuing diplomatic embassy while Raines crept in to hack into their computer system. They spoofed an email from the embassy to Panzarasa urging him to visit the consulate today, or his diplomatic status would be revoked.
The team received a call from Smitty, who found the hijackers. They died of radiation poisoning because they didn’t secure the radioactive material properly…
The Pickpocket Tactic
The team eventually found Panzarasa, but he fled to a nearby rooftop. Forrester ensued, and they fought violently on the roof until Scott managed to arrest him. While being interrogated, Panzarasa revealed his recent sale was for a dirty bomb, yet he stonewalled agents for an immunity deal. Panzarasa gave in and told them who the buyer was, a radical named Omar Fane.
The team obtain his address in Paris and breached his home. They found a manifesto, which revealed he would detonate the dirty bomb in Paris! Speaking with Fane’s neighbors revealed his possible attack location. Agents went undercover in search of the man, figuring he would detonate the bomb in a public place.
Forrester got an idea from the pickpockets in the area. They spotted Fane, knowing he would set off the explosive if he were made early. When Forrestor approached him, he was sweaty and looked sickly. They distracted and intercepted the device, arrested the man, and evacuated the area.
No Thank You
When the HazMat team arrived, they disarmed the dirty bomb, and luckily the Fly Team was all clear from radioactive exposure.
Thereafter, Forrester gave Raines paperwork that would give him an opportunity back in the States that would advance his career. Raines declined the offer because he enjoyed being a field agent, taking down the bad guys, and saving lives…
