Envy: A Seven Deadly Sins Story is a tale of jealousy. A bastard child tracks down her father and discovers her family. The family embraces her, but her desire for her newfound sibling’s life leads her to do manipulative and devious feats. It is the second story in two films to release on Lifetime. Envy airs Saturday, April 17th at 8 pm ET/PT on Lifetime. Here’s our recap of the film.

Envy: A Seven Deadly Sins Story Recap

We begin with an argument and a fall, it looks like an accident. We see Keisha with the look of concern and a child in the distance asks, “Is that you Momma?”

“Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another envying one another.” Galations 5:25 (KJV)

Flashback to when Keisha was a child remembering her mother. The young girl was teased at school for not having a father in her life. Her mother bluntly kills her dreams of knowing her father. Then opens a Bible and makes her remember, she has a mother and God- she needs nothing else.

Fast forward, and Keisha is on a hospital bed grieving and someone enters. She scolds them jumping to conclusions that they want payment for burial from her. The woman explains she’s not there for that but she should find burial assistance. She still holds the Bible from her childhood and finds a hidden letter within it but tosses the Bible in the trash…

Later on, while living out of her car, she researches the name, Elijah, found in a love letter by her mother from that Bible. She discovers he has a daughter and decides to write to him.

Gabrielle has the perfect family. A husband and young daughter. As well as a huge beautiful home and an amazing career. But she hasn’t heard from her father in a few days so she decides to go see him. He’s shaken and confesses to her that he had an affair on her deceased mother. He reveals his sadness that he learned of another daughter out of wedlock. A child meant to be aborted but was not. Gabrielle is torn up at the truth of her father’s sins. Her father suggests that try to find the estranged sibling.

In talking with her pregnant friend Regan, she considers it. Keisha is in Arkansas. Work calls Gabrielle’s attention more so Regan offers to find her on her behave.

Although Keisha is homeless she maintains a job as a hairstylist. Regan visits her at the shop to tell her the truth about her unknown father and sister. Keisha is playing a role and almost blew her cover. Regan is a private investigator by trade and is suspicious of her character…

Keisha went to vent to her friend DC, plotting to get a taste of Gabrielle’s life. They’re plotting to rob the wealthy sibling.

Regan shares her background information with Gabrielle. Telling her that Keisha lost a daughter would have been the same age as Gabrielle’s daughter Bella. Then informs her she will meet her.

Keisha is brought to Elijah’s home where Gabrielle is. They embrace and welcome her. Regan leaves the family with paternity test information before leaving. They will have a couple of spats about gaining the results but Elijah is convinced Keisha is his daughter. No need for tests. Her father’s place is quaint so Gabrielle convinces Keisha to stay at her massive home. She admires it greatly!

Immediately she searches for bank account numbers and scores a huge jackpot. She discovers that Elijah’s will left all assets to Gabrielle, naturally.

The two sisters have a moment to talk and connect since they both lost their mothers. Keisha learned of Gabrielle’s career and offered some tips for one of her biggest clients. Keisha is adjusting nicely with the family. Even becoming comfortable enough to ask her father for money and he obliges.

One night, Gabrielle peeks in on Keisha tucking Bella into bed, and overhears her claim, “my daughter, so beautiful.” This shocked Gabrielle but she did not tell anyone.

One day Elijah gathers his girls to reveal the paternity test results, she is 99.9% his daughter. The trio heads out for a dinner celebration. Elijah and Gabrielle convince her to stay in Atlanta. They provide her a job and a car. In a call back to her fiend boyfriend, she’s having regrets of scamming the family…

Envy starts to set in…

Gabrielle surprises her with a new car. But her jealousy wants for the new Gabrielles new luxury car and not the affordable car. They shop for clothing, Gabrielle grabs designer while Keisha gets regular brands. The same goes for her office. Speaking of, the key client, Justice, visits the office and Gabrielle uses most of her ideas in the pitch. Regan does not want Keisha in the meeting and sends her for coffee. Upon returning, Keisha sees her ideas on the board. Justice loves it. But only after being caught in the act, Gabrielle confesses it’s Keisha’s idea. That hurt her and she vowed to take everything from Gabrielle. Her money, her family, her business…

Keisha is very manipulative. Even when she was nearly being caught by Gabrielle’s hubby, she managed to twist things around and point animosity her sister’s way. She even managed to manufacture Gabrielle’s suspicion towards her hubby.

At work, Gabrielle missed the big meeting with Justice and Keisha was there to save the day. However, Keisha purposely deleted the meeting invite and spiked her coffee so she oversleeps.

Gabrielle is a busy businesswoman and it’s starting to take an effect on the family. It’s causing strife in the family.

At a celebration party, Keisha managed to take Justice’s launch responsibility from Gabrielle. She seemed out of touch and unrelatable to the strategy, which Justice noticed. Keisha wanted to invite a social media queen of gossip to amplify the launch messaging. After that meet, Gabrielle’s husband informed her that a large sum of money was missing from their accounts. It went unnoticed for weeks.

Gabrielle and hubby have another spat about Justice, he just seems to pop up everywhere. He even asks her did she hook up with Justice six years ago when they broke up. He raised the suspicion that Bella could possibly not be his. Keisha being manipulative as she is, purposely brings Bella downstairs to overhear the fight.

At the launch party, the queen of gossip gets a juicy tip from Keisha and immediately exposes it in front of everyone. Claiming that Justice fathered his marketing manager’s daughter. Hubby was there and his suspicion made him confront Justice. The two ended up brutally fighting, ruining the launch party.

Hubby gave Gabrielle an ultimatum to choose to drop her biggest client or him. She wouldn’t choose so he left her. Keisha was snooping and as Hubby was leaving, she tried to advance at him, he turned her down.

Gabrielle spoke with Justice afterward. She discovered that Keisha may have pulled the strings behind all of the lies circulating. Gabrielle figured it out. She called Regan to vent and the bestie returned to the residence to retrieve Bella. After exposing Keisha they ensue a struggle and Regan was accidentally pushed down the long flight of stairs. Keisha panics and flees with Bella.

Serayah stars in ‘Envy A Seven Deadly Sins Story’

Keisha calls Elijah and he meets his daughter. He offers to be there for her even in the face of the terrible mess she caused. He convinced her to return the child, surrender and was arrested immediately. She tried to apologize but Gabrielle rejected her. Regan ended up being fine.

In time, Elijah and Gabrielle went to visit Keisha in jail. She confessed she wrote the initial letter. She wanted from them what she thought was hers. But her father told him that someone sent the bible, which had Keisha’s mother’s original letter inside. The family saw her pain. They managed to forgive her and pray with her.
