Warning… Spoilers below!
On East New York Season 1 Episode 11 “By the Book”, Goody serves Corrine and Killian with court papers after they pay him the $30,000 for the bar with a Ray Campenneli baseball bat.
Explanations
The bat is the one that Killian stole to pay for Goody’s for Corrine. The bat was supposedly used in the 1955 World Series but it turns out to be a fake! Goody is very upset and disappointed in them and walks out after serving them their paperwork. Killian and Morales catch the case of murdered Kia Russell, a very talented dancer, whose body is found on the subway tracks.
Sandeford seeks Chief Suarez out to explain the questionable events that surrounded Kiki’s arrest. The Chief informs Sandeford that he is on modified duty for an undetermined timeframe. Killian and Morales arrest a young woman for criminal possession of stolen property when she is caught with Kia’s credit card.
She swears she found it on the subway ground and doesn’t know anything about a dead woman or anyone named Kia. Don Jankowicz arrives with Officer Gabe Finley to explain why Finley was justified in using force on a woman suspect he was trying to place inside his vehicle. Regina isn’t buying Finley’s excuses and doesn’t think he deserves to be an officer anymore.
All Eyes On Regina
Jankowicz warns Regina that the Police Union will be watching very closely to see what decision Regina comes to about Finley. Bettina interrupts them to plead with Regina to help name her daughter’s murderer. Killian receives a phone call alerting him that two more attacks have occurred on the subway.
Quinlan arrives to take Bentley home and finds his parents, Simone and Adolphus, packing for him. It is a very awkward meeting when Bentley informs Quinlan that he won’t be going home to their apartment building. Instead, he will be going back home, so his parents can be the ones to help him get around. Quinlan is heartbroken, Bentley is ashamed, and Simone is too pleased with herself.
Morales, Killian, and Captain Yenko watch the surveillance video from the subway attacks and witness teenagers involved in the “Knockout Game”. Yenko orders Quinlan to set up in the subway as a decoy to see if they can catch these dangerous teenagers. Captain Yenko lets Regina know that Finley had a string of complaints from the last station he worked. Because his father is the Lieutenant of the Fire Department in the same district where Finley’s last job was, Finley was able to resign and guarantee that nothing wound up on his personnel file.
No More Free Reign
Regina decides to involve IAB and Jankowicz runs straight to Chief Suarez to ask him to intervene with Regina and the IAB. He even tries to bribe the Chief. The Chief puts Jankowicz in his place and stands by Regina. Surprise, Surprise: IAB decides not to investigate Finley.
During the decoy sting, Morales spots some teenagers headed toward Quinlan. Quinlan takes out the first teenager and Killian tackles the other. During questioning, Treylon and Rocket have alibis for Kia’s death, but the detectives find a book and head to the local library where they meet Albert. Albert admits to shoving Kia a little too hard and it resulted in her death.
Jankowicz threatens Chief Suarez into restricting Regina’s reign of change. Quinlan and Bentley arrive at Goody’s reopening and share a passionate kiss in front of the whole 7-4. Corrine and Killian are able to convince Goody to come work with them for a 50% stake in the bar he sold them and they will pay him back $15,000.
