Warning… Spoilers below!

On Criminal Minds: Evolution Episode 5, it’s the mid-season finale, and the BAU receives case support from an unlikely source…

Black Teeth

An assistant guided a young brunette into a fabulous mansion. She was greeted by her date, Benjamin Reaves (portrayed by Luke Benward), who appreciated that she obliged his request to turn her phone off. The woman, Rose, was impressed by his mother, Senator Reaves, and aspired to be like her. Soon after, Rose fainted because Benjamin drugged her wine.

The assistant Mitch and Benjamin gazed at her, then tied her up and gagged her. Rose tried to break free, but it was futile. Benjamin told her not to worry as he brandished his razor-sharp black teeth

Bleached & Bitten

JJ and William revisited his physician, and she learned he had previously met with her but hadn’t told her anything. She was worried and threatened to call his mother if William kept her out of the loop. He was fearful of the gesture.

At the office, Rossi and Emily convinced Penelope to work with Tyler Green again. Although she was vehemently against it, she reluctantly agreed.

The team was presented with the next case by, ironically, Deputy Director Bailey. Two up-and-coming women in politics were bitten with razor-sharp teeth all over their bodies, and their hair was bleached blonde and dumped! Rossi could read right through the bureaucrat and confronted him with the fact that he knew one of the victims. Figuring she broke his heart.

Emily pulled Bailey to the side and learned that he was romantic with one victim, and they met through an exclusive dating app. He wanted the BAU to cover the case yet leave his reputation intact. Emily agreed to pursue the case, granted he backed off her team. He reluctantly agreed.

Tyler helped Penelope hack into the network, but their interactions were brutal. Rossi saw a set of traits (PCL-R) Sicarius was looking for to recruit his serial killer network.

The FBI learned that each tooth was sharpened and the biting device was possibly custom-built. The team figured the Unsub was progressing and searched for a possible survivor, which they found. Her name was Jessica, and she was too afraid to talk because of the powerful people involved in her attack.

Mother Dearest

The BAU started to craft a profile that the Unsub was trying to recreate the victims into his mother. The one he hated the most and the one he was building up the courage to kill!

Meanwhile, Benjamin bleached a deceased Rose’s hair blonde. When the Feds found the body, they searched for links and found that the bodies were all dumped at Senator Reaves’s properties.

When Bailey was briefed, he was informed that the Senator’s son, Benjamin, fit their profile and wanted to arrest him. The bureaucrat refused and gave them a short lease, so they followed a tip from the surviving victim Jessica, about her attacker’s assistant.

Later on, William visited JJ at work with good news, his thyroids tripped the cancer scare. He used the scare to point out the fact that she conceals the dangers of her job, and he needed to know as soon as things came on. They pink swore over it…

Meanwhile, Mitch briefed Benjamin about the FBI naming the duo as persons of interest, and Benjamin was unwavering, telling Mitch to handle it. However, Senator Reaves (portrayed by Beth Broderick) came home to confront Benjamin about a gala he needed to attend. A drunken Benjamin refused, but Reaves commanded him to his knees and convinced him that he would attend, and he agreed!

Buried Treasure

Mitch Nevins waltzed into the FBI to speak with them before they could put out a bolo. He was intrigued by the gruesome murder photos they showed him. That’s when the team realized there were two Unsubs… but why the bait-and-switch games?

Checking his car, they found the teeth a bit too easy, so Mitch lawyered up. The BAU sought to bring in Jessica. However, Benjamin had abducted her at gunpoint. The team tracked her location and raced to save her. They found her in time, along with Benjamin, with a gun in his possession.

They hauled him in for questioning, and they learned Benjamin was a cofounder of the exclusive social media app used as a hunting ground for victims. Emily decided to portray his mother to see if she could get a rise out of him. He started to reveal the names of victims from the Sicarius container. (Details the public never knew, so they figured he was in direct contact with Sicarius!)

Benjamin told her about a location in Woodfield County, Georgia. It was more buried treasure full of surprises. Before he could confess more, Senator Reaves and her lawyer halted the interview and sprung the man.

Escalation

The team sought Tyler’s help with a cannibal in Sicarius’ network. He knew of a man wanting to be a benefactor for the network. Tyler had to make amends with Penelope to find more clues, so he gifted her a new cat.

Senator Reaves confronted Emily and Bailey about her son’s arrest. She demanded the charges dropped or the BAU would be defunded. Bailey cowered under pressure and urged Emily to back off.

When Senator Reaves and Benjamin got home, Elias (aka Sicarius) was there with a gun to kill the senator. Elias commanded that Benjamin commit the act that he was building up to… using his normal teeth to bite and kill her!

When the Feds found the senator’s dead body, she had a large messy gouge bitten out of her face, and Benjamin was gone. They tracked his location ironically to Woodfield County. Penelope hacked into the secure communication, but Elias locked her out once he detected her.

JJ and Luke visited the location and breached another underground shipping container without waiting for backup. JJ called William but didn’t tell him exactly what she was doing. They turned on their bodycams, and the team watched.

When they breached the container, they noticed large explosives inside and bailed out of the location, but it exploded, and there was no response from the duo
