Clifton Powell recently interviewed on Celebrity Myxer! He talked about his new movie Sinners Wanted premiering on TV One Sunday, April 5th at 3 pm CT. Clifton has been in more than 100 films. Many may know him from roles in movies like Dead Presidents, Friday After Next, and Ray. We learned about some of his favorite roles including his portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Lord, Selma and how he became everyone’s favorite bad guy in Hollywood. In Powell’s new film Sinners Wanted, he plays a one-eyed wheelchair-bound man who is the voice of reason to a young pastor taking over a church in a rough neighborhood. He’s also the whip for hypocrites in the church that judge the pastor’s new relationship with a prostitute that causes turmoil in the church. The movie premieres on TV One April 5th, and encores Saturday, April 11th at 12 pm, and Easter Sunday, April 12th at 4 pm.
Clifton goes in-depth about the necessity for training as an actor. “Method acting” prepares him for his numerous character-based roles. It’s the art he says many Hollywood favorites also practice including; Denzel Washington, Robert Deniro, Meryl Streep, Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Samuel L. Jackson and more. He advises new actors to seek training to refine their skills.
