After the briefing, Halstead met Voight in private to give him the heads up. Voight wanted to handle it solo but Halstead needed to know the plan. He didn’t want Upton involved, just the two of them.

Mule

The detectives found out the kidnapped woman’s name is, Willa Tan. The team got a hit on the suspect’s location and raided it. They found evidence of them trying to extract something from the woman’s body as blood was everywhere!

Voight found the gunman and Willa in an abandoned lot. He pulled his gun on the suspect, the gunman drew his firearm too. Voight was too concerned with the woman and lowered his weapon asking the man what drugs did she ingest. He let the man get away and radioed help also requesting Narcan. Halstead came with the stimulant and they recovered her.

At the hospital, Willa recuperated but was questioned by Halstead and Upton because she was trafficking 70 balloons was heroin that burst in her belly. She claimed one of the men saved her with the botched extraction, hence why she wouldn’t tell their identities. She rather lawyer up then confess.

Great Lengths To Get Dirt

The team backtracked Willa’s movements, she traveled interstate and sought to get intel from the DEA regarding the case.

Voight shared his next move with Halstead, it was an unethical action, but they found a way to get dirt on Agent North to leverage him.

Halstead went undercover as a vagrant and sparked up a conversation with another vagabond, Joe. He attempted to shoot up heroin and the man perked up, wanting a bump. They wanted the man to follow him but it was a sting operation to arrest him.

They tossed him in the van with Voight for a conversation. Joe wanted to get to the station to call his brother, Agent North. Voight lied to the man claiming North said he wouldn’t bail him out his time. Joe broke easily and gave Voight all the dirt he needed to proceed.

Upton confronted Halstead in Voight’s presence for his recent whereabouts. While in private, he confessed what they had been up to and that he needed to protect her.

Good For The City

The team figure Willa’s recruiter was someone she knew. They looked deep into her past and found a childhood friend, Nicky Sanchez, who had recently moved to Chicago.

They raided his place and suddenly, they hear a gunshot. They breached the apartment and Nicky held a gun to another man’s head. Voight distracted the gunmen with a shot near his head and soon had his pistol at the man’s dome forcing him to withdraw.

Thereafter, Voight pulled Halstead to the side to convince him to give him up. Halstead rebutted and told his Sergeant he was no good in prison and he was good for the city. Voight insisted Halstead give him up…

Tell Me The Truth So I Can Lie For You

Halstead met North at Walton’s grave. He told him they had Joe under arrest and confessed on tape that Agent North had bribed multiple law enforcement officers on his behalf to get him released for drug possession over the years. They had the Fed on official misconduct and obstruction of justice. He threatened if North pursued him, he would use the evidence against him!

Halstead offered North a scapegoat, giving him a file with five other associates of Walton’s who would want the sex trafficker dead.

Later on, Halstead visited Voight to tell him the threat is over and he wanted his boss to be upfront with him going forward reciting Voight’s own line back to him, “Tell me the truth so I can lie for you.”

Halstead then went home to inform Upton that the threat was gone and they mutually told each other they loved one another. Jay asked Hailey to marry him. They went to the courthouse and got their nuptials rather than a big ceremony. The episode ended with them making love to each other…
