Warning… Spoilers below!

On Chicago Med Season 7 Episode 11, Dr. Scott met with his former partner about a man, Terrell, he hadn’t seen since in twelve years. He examined the man’s son, Darius, and thought his arm was broken.

It’s Complicated

They brought the boy into the hospital to look at his arm. Scott, Terrell, and his wife, Carmen, used to be close friends over a decade ago and now their relationship is complicated. The break required a plate and the parents bickered at Scott’s treatment. Terrell asked for Dr. Archer’s opinion and he recommended surgery since his own son had the same procedure.

While in surgery, Archer noticed a benign tumor in the boy’s arm but Scott needed to inform his parents and get their permission to proceed. Terrell wanted another doctor’s opinion but time was limited since he was under anesthesia.

Scott tried to convince him but their past was thrown in his face. Back when Scott was a cop, he stole Carmen from him and was a part of a team of cops who raided a house and arrested him in the mess. Terrell was bitter but Scott pleaded and convinced him to do the surgery for his son’s sake.

Scott informed Carmen that her son had more treatment to go. Terrell heeded Scott a warning to stay away from his family

The Court Of Public Opinion

Dr. Randall Shintu visited Goodwin about Avery Quinn’s (Dr. Blake’s daughter) law firm filing a class-action lawsuit against the hospital. She was protective of her doctors as they were listed as defendants. Shintu was only concerned about avoiding a messy media battle of public opinion.

Goodwin finally met with Avery to remove her doctor’s name from her list and traded with herself for questioning.

Dinner Invite

Dr. Taylor asked Maggie over for dinner, her parents were eager to meet her. Maggie was apprehensive and sought Goodwin’s opinion, she was nervous of their opinions of her. Maggie went to dinner and it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be.

Bending The Rules

Dr. Shintu immediately intercepted a high-priority patient, West Tucker, a famous football player who needed a liver transplant. Blake was blunt asking him about his alcoholism. Since he wasn’t sober for at least six months, the surgeons couldn’t perform the surgery.

Shintu pulled the doctors into a conference with Goodwin to convince them to perform the surgery. In private, Goodwin defended their professional opinions while Shintu was only thinking of good publicity for the hospital.

Shintu came to the surgeons with an alternative, a live donor who volunteered, and another surgeon would perform the surgery. Marcel’s previous patient, Miles, was a fan of West Tucker, and was he the volunteer. After asking how sure the man was, Marcel returned to Blake to perform the surgery and she agreed. And although it was a slight complication, the surgery was successful.

Botched

Hammer was in the lobby and a young woman, Nadia, walked in and fell out. When she inspected the woman’s bottom, it was a huge gash in it as if she had botched surgery performed!

Hammer consulted with Dr. Charles to see if she received some back alley surgery. She was apprehensive, they suspected she was protecting someone. Her father visited her and the physicians thought their exchange was odd.

Nadia started to have complications and her father was spot on knowing what was wrong. Charles confronted the man, he wasn’t her father… he was her surgeon! Charles chatted with the man about his credentials. He claimed he did good work as a former Russian surgeon but the implants from the black market were bad. And he performed surgery on another patient that day. Doctors scrambled to find her.

Halstead went with the team to find the woman, Alexandria, she was passed out from the bad implants. The woman needed a procedure to extract the silicon immediately! If they moved it could risk her life and Hammer conferences Halstead with instructions to extract it in the mobile transport.

The silicon shifted around and she started to crash. Time was racing and their chances were slim but Halstead trusted Hammer’s instructions and managed to stabilize the woman for transport!

Dr. Charles confronted the defunct surgeon and he rebutted that would have gone elsewhere for it. Charles chastised him about risking their lives and was forced to involve the police to arrest him.

Nadia recovered. Halstead asked Hammer to go bowling with him. Then Hammer received final divorce paperwork and they took a raincheck on their bowling date…
