Busy Day Ahead

Cruz brings Javi to the Firehouse because he has some days off of school, and Boden and the rest of the team treats him like the newest candidate.

Sylvie is looking longingly at a picture of her and Matt when Mouch walks in. Sylvie tells him that a lot of their paramedicine patients could use an extra visit or so, so she’s made a new schedule. Mouch notices it’s a lot of extra visits, but he assures Sylvie that he can make it work.

Proving His Worth

The team responds to a call at a construction site, where they were digging and hit a powerline. Severide sees one of the workers walking toward the unconscious operator of the machine, because the ground is energized. Cruz helps the man take one step at a time to safety.

Carver and Mouch work on using the ladder to swing Severide over the ground to get to the unconscious victim. Severide is able to secure the man, but sparks start flying, so Severide and the man have to swing back together instead of one by one. Carver struggles to hold both of their weights, and Stella notices. He assures her he’s fine, and is able to hold them long enough for them to get to safety. After they wheel the victim away, Carver takes off his glove, and he has a bad mark from the cord.

Sylvie and Violet take the victim to Med, where they run into Hawkins. Violet tells Sylvie that they’re going on a weekend trip, but she’s nervous because it’s their first trip as a couple. She makes a comment about Sylvie and Matt going on trips a lot, but Sylvie doesn’t tell her that they broke up.

When they get back to the firehouse, Gallo tells Javi a dramatic re-telling of the rescue that Severide pulled off. Javi seems enthralled by the story, and asks what Cruz did on the call, but he says he just got the ropes ready.

Put On the Spot

Stella asks Carver if he knew the victim, Andre, because he seemed extra concerned about his safety. Carver reveals he used to work with him when he worked in construction.

Capp and Tony congratulate Carver on the save, and notice the burn on his arm. When they ask where he got it, Carver just says his coat was ripped during a fire. He pulls down his sleeve to cover the burn once they all leave.

Stella finds Severide and tells him the move back at the site was risky, but Carver saved them both. Stella wonders if Boden might be right about Carver, but is annoyed at the idea.

Stella sees Carver kick something and storm out while talking to Sylvie and Violet. When she asks them what happened, they tell Stella that the doctors had to amputate Andre’s leg due to electrical burns.

Done For the Day

Cruz and Tony show Javi the fire truck, and even scare Capp by sounding the horn. They stop by and talk to Severide before heading out, and Javi makes a comment about how Severide is so cool.

Hawkins tells Violet they have to postpone their trip because of a paramedic conference he has to go to. Violet assures him it’s not his fault, that they have time later to go, but she still seems upset.

Stella asks Carver if he’s going to check up on Andre, and he says he is. She doesn’t agree with what they were taught: to leave everything at the scene, and asks if she can tag along with him to the hospital.

Sylvie and Mouch check in on a paramedicine patient, Warren, who doesn’t seem like he’s taking his medicine. On their way out, Sylvie tells Mouch they have to eat on the go so they can go directly to the next stop.

Things Aren’t Adding Up

Carver goes to visit Andre and meets his wife, Rita. Rita thanks them, but says she’s worried about the cost for the procedure, because Andre is getting blamed for the accident for digging where he wasn’t supposed to. Rita points out how dedicated Andre has been to the company, but they’re throwing him out and not even caring about him.

Carver is confused by this and tells Stella that Andre is a pro at his job, he wouldn’t make a stupid mistake.

Relationship Competitions

Javi comes back to the firehouse, and notices the cool car that Severide is driving, and is excited to work with him. Herrmann tells Cruz not to worry, the same thing happened with his kids, but nobody can compete with Severide.

Gallo tells Ritter about a girl he’s been hooking up with, but he knows that there’s no future there. He doesn’t want things to get complicated with feelings, but Ritter encourages him to keep it casual. After all, Gallo needs a distraction from seeing Violet and Hawkins together.

Discovering the Truth

Stella tells Carver that she made a few phone calls, but it doesn’t look good for Andre. That ground he dug up was clearly marked as having a power line, so it’s being called an operator error, putting the fault on Andre. Carver still doesn’t get it, and thinks the city must’ve marked it wrong. But Stella says everything is there. Carver doesn’t want to believe it until he sees it, and they have to go before their shift is up if they want to check.

Sylvie wants to go visit Warren again, and Mouch says they’re having a day twice as long as normal. Sylvie apologizes, knowing Mouch has a life to get to and probably can’t work with the schedule well, but Mouch is worried about how busy Sylvie has been keeping herself the last few days. Sylvie tells him that her and Matt broke up, and she’s still processing, so she hasn’t told anyone yet. Sylvie offers to shorten the days, but Mouch says they can have as many busy days as Sylvie needs.

Stella and Carver go to check out the site, and the power line is clearly marked with flags. However, when they’re walking back, Carver notices one of the flags is on top of the tracks from the fire truck when they were on scene. Carver asks the worker that Cruz helped to safety who moved the flags, because they weren’t there before, but the worker assures him they were. When Carver points out the mistake, the man gets defensive and sends them away.

Relationships Mended

Hawkins stop by the firehouse to drop off paperwork to Sylvie, but runs into Violet. He asks her what’s wrong, and Violet blames herself for everything that’s happening to him and how much Hawkins is having to prove himself. Hawkins assures her that he wouldn’t change a thing about what happened, because they’re together and he’s happy. Gallo watches them kiss, and pulls out his phone to call that woman.

Javi runs drills with Severide, and is again impressed by who cool Severide is. Severide notices Cruz’s expression, and tells Javi about a time when Cruz swooped in and saved his life. Severide says he wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for Cruz, and Javi says that Cruz is his hero, too.

Carver tells Stella that he figured out all that construction company cares about is profit, and Stella thinks that when the man was walking across the charged ground, he wasn’t trying to save Andre, he was trying to move the flags to cover his own back. Carver says he knows a guy that works for the company, Gavin, and that he must’ve been pressured into joining. Stella wonders if they can flip him to be on their side, and Carver thinks so, he just needs to find his info amongst the paperwork. Stella sits down to help him, and Carver asks why, since she doesn’t like him. Stella tells him that she trusts that Boden saw something in him, and it’s her chance to see it for herself.

Gallo quickly cleans up his place, and takes Ritter’s advice and hooks up with the same woman from before.

Getting Angry

Sylvie and Mouch show back up at Warren’s. Trudy calls Mouch, so he stays outside to take the call while Sylvie heads inside. She knocks on Warren’s door, but it’s open and the place is a mess. Sylvie searches for him, and Warren walks up to her with a hammer in his hands. Sylvie tries to talk him down, but Warren doesn’t seem to know what’s happening or who she is. Meanwhile, outside, Mouch runs into a woman who says that Warren’s sister hasn’t been there, she died a few weeks prior. She was the one who was supposed to be caring after him and making sure he took his meds to prevent psychosis.

Carver and Stella visit Andre, who can’t believe what’s happening. Gavin, the guy Carver reached out to, storms in, looking for a fight since Carver called him a liar over the phone. Carver tells him to look at Andre, and Gavin is shocked to see Andre’s leg gone. Carver tells Gavin to look Andre in the eye and tell him it’s his fault, cause that’s what his report said. Gavin claims he reported what he saw, but Carver says that it could’ve been him with the amputated leg.

Relationships, Situationships, and Lies

Hawkins checks in to his hotel, and there’s a note with a room number on the folder he’s given at the front desk. He heads to it, and Violet surprises him there.

Sylvie eats dinner with Mouch and Trudy, and they talk about how Warren will finally be getting the help he needs. Trudy pours her a glass of wine and starts talking about her past breakups and how she dealt with them to make Sylvie feel better.

Herrmann tells Gallo and Severide that his niece is coming by because she’s been having a tough time and he’s giving her a job at Molly’s to get back on track. She walks in, and Herrmann introduces her as Tracy, but Gallo already knows her, it’s the girl he’s been hooking up with. However, in front of Herrmann, they pretend not to know each other at all.

Stella gets Carver a drink, and asks where he really got the scar on his arm. She knows he was lying because he had that scar in the picture he showed her of his days in construction with Gavin. Stella tells him she understands wanting to bury the past, but she won’t have him lie to her. Carver says he’ll keep quiet about the scar, then.
