Warning… Spoilers below!

On Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 7, Severide worked closely with Seager to find the arsonist. Chicago P.D. was involved in the case as it was a dangerous serial…

Brett got a letter from Casey. She was eager to see him in a few weeks. Casey wrote Gallo a letter too, it was his famous corned beef recipe.

Serial Arsonist

Severide and Seager visited the Sister at the archdiocese to question who could the arsonist be. She couldn’t provide much help except sharing that some of the parishioners became upset that the Catholic church allowed non-traditionals in. Yet, this is why Father Anthony allowed them- knowing religion should not be selective of lifestyles.

Severide suggested they look into patterns of past fires as huge arson fires don’t just start… they progress. They found a dumpster fire behind a nearby church interesting and went to visit the father over the church. He gave the same sentiment as the Sister regarding the older members complaining of the new “woke” patrons.

He did recall some anger doodles in their old missiles and gave them a stack to investigate. Seager found the messages in one missile and figured it’s their arsonist.

There was one scripture that stood out in all of the passages. Seager recognized where she saw the scripture, on a drawing in the Sister’s office. They visited her and learned of Father Anthony’s passing. They asked who drew the artwork and she claimed it was Larry Muller, their former groundskeeper. They searched his old storage locker and found residue of massive bombing materials.

Risk Taker

Casey’s temporary replacement was Lieutenant Jason Pelham. Mouch recognized him from television coverage, he saved two children in a fire and was humble about it. Suddenly the crew got a fire alarm. They arrived at a factory and a man was trapped inside a plastic wrapping machine.

Gallo attempted to only wedge the machinery with wood studs but Pelham abruptly stopped him, making him secure the machine with webbing in the case the wedges wouldn’t hold. They managed to cut him loose and got the man out. Gallo said to Ritter those wedges totally help up. Pelham overheard his but didn’t confront the man on the spot.

Back at the firehouse, Bolden asked Mouch if Pelham would work out and keep an eye on the new lieutenant. Later on, Pelham spoke with Gallo about his risk-taking. Gallo rebutted that Casey allowed him leeway. Pelham confronted him to follow orders he gives him.

Pelham approached Mouch about the situation as he didn’t want to start on the wrong foot. He explained how Gallo and Casey’s relationship progressed. The two butted heads a few more times thereafter.

False Alarm

The 51 team got a call to another catholic church, St. Dominics. It seemed like a false alarm as there was no inferno. Sev came too. They cleared it

Det. Atwater got a warrant and the fire inspector joined him at Muller’s house. Muller’s mother answer and allowed them inside the home. One locked door revealed his obsession with the archdiocese. They found the same doodle and bomb-making schematics. They also saw that his room was within view of St. Dominics…

They got another call, Severide and Seager rushed there to confirm the church was the next target. The last alarm was recon and Sev figured out a car bomb was set.

Suddenly, Larry was spotted and bolted to his car. Before Sev could get to him he hit the detonator, blowing himself up! All that was left of the man was a charred body…

Took A While To Come Around

Brett got a text message that Casey got an opportunity with a new firehouse in Portland and they won’t be seeing each other. She was broken about it and shared her feelings with Gallo. They both really missed him. They solved their issues with a “what would Casey say” moment.

Bolden rounded the crew together to inform them that Pelham would stay with them for at least a week. Everyone was appreciative to have him including Gallo. It took him a while to come around. Gallo mastered Casey’s corned beef recipe and served Pelham first- healing their bad start.

However, Herrmann asked Mouch how can a guy like Pelham float from house to house for so long…

Loved this episode. Interest level maintained to the end. One thing though, a great finish would have included Casey’s corned beef recipe.
