Warning… Spoilers below!

On Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 21, Hawkins and Gallo work together to expose Emma, and Stella and Severide hit a road bump in their relationship.

The episode begins with Hawkins and Violet discussing Emma’s threatening ultimatum. Hawkins assures Violet that he won’t let her go down alone, and even calms her down and tries to assure her that everything will be fine.

As Stella and Severide get ready to leave for work, they’re acting very awkward around each other.

At the firehouse, Cap and Tony play catch with eggs, and Cap accidentally falls on the couch and breaks it. He freaks out, knowing Mouch will kill them. They struggle to come up with a plan to fix it.

A Determined Driver

Emma shows up in the locker room with Violet, Gallo, and Ritter, and offers Violet a coffee. She reluctantly takes it, and then tosses it in the trash two seconds later after Emma leaves. Gallo and Ritter wonder what’s wrong with her, since she claimed she was going to go easy on Emma, but the team is called out before she can respond.

The team arrives to a car crash involving a food truck. When they rescue the driver, he seems determined to get back to his car, no matter how much Violet tries to hold him down to examine him. The man notices his food truck smoking, and dashes toward the truck. Cruz yells at him and tries to stop him, but it’s too late. The man opens the truck door and flames burst out, knocking over both the man and Cruz.

Cruz is okay, and the team puts the fire out. Violet examines the man’s new bad burns, but his eyes are still focused on his car. Stella and Mason busy themselves by getting the driver out of the other car safely.

Once the site is safe and the team starts cleaning up, Stella asks Severide if they need anything else, but he gives her a curt response.

A Dangerous Crime

As Mouch sits on the couch, it snaps under him. He gets upset, and when Cap tries to put it on Mouch since he was the last one to sit on it, Mouch gets even more passionate. He points out that the wood didn’t crack when he sat down on it, so it was broken beforehand. He claims there’s been a cover up, and he promises to get to the bottom of it.

Later, Mouch takes photos of the crime scene at the couch, and drags Ritter into his investigation.

Word Spreads

Gallo checks in on Violet, asking her why her behavior towards Emma has changed. At first, Violet brushes it off, but as Gallo leaves, Violet hastily tells him about the blackmail. Gallo is visibly upset, but Violet doesn’t want him to tell anybody else; she especially doesn’t want Emma to know that she knows. Violet asks him to promise not to say anything, but Gallo isn’t sure he can do that.

Mason notices that Emma seems happier, and she tells him that it seems like her and Violet turned a corner. He notices a personal picture in her locker, and tells her that he’s permanent, and is still scared to commit to a photo in a locker. She tells him to manifest what you want, that’s what important.

Gallo shows up to Hawkins’ office, and he reveals that Violet told him what happened. He asks Hawkins what he’s going to do, but he tells Gallo that it’s none of his business. Gallo fights back, saying Violet is his friend, and wonders what Hawkins is doing about the situation. After some hesitation, Hawkins reveals he pulled out a personnel file on Emma, and noticed something whited out under something about a disciplinary action. Hawkins tells Gallo that he wants to talk to her old chief, but is afraid of people questioning his interest. Gallo offers to talk to him instead. Hawkins isn’t sure that’s a good idea, but Gallo says they both care about Violet, so he wants to do it.

Precious Cargo

When Cruz attempts to talk to Severide about his wedding, he notices that Severide doesn’t seem worried, or even interested, in anything regarding the wedding. Before they can talk more, the man from the food truck shows up at the firehouse. He asks if anybody knows what happened to his truck after the crash, and Severide tells him that they’ll look into it and give him a call when they find it.

Stella reminds Severide that they have a taste testing later, but Severide doesn’t seem into it at all. Noticing Severide’s face, she wonders if they should cancel it, and he says yes. Severide says he wants to investigate what happened to the food truck. Cruz offers to tag along to figure out what happened.

Cruz and Severide show up to the tow yard and find the food truck. Severide wants to investigate, because he said the owner was acting strange back at the firehouse. When he looks in the burnt truck, he notices that the propane tank seems full, which doesn’t add up. While examining the tank, Cruz finds a seam on the top of it, and Severide realizes he can pull it off. When he does, he finds tons of bags filled with pills. Severide makes a call and alerts them about the truck’s location.

A Stall in the Investigation

Gallo shows up to Emma’s previous station to meet her former chief. Gallo asks to talk in private, and questions him about Emma. The chief’s face instantly falls, and when Gallo tries to ask more questions, he says he isn’t allowed to talk about her to him. Gallo reveals that she’s blackmailing the paramedic chief, and when he tries to say he can’t tell him anything again, Gallo asks him if he’s okay with real people getting hurt because of her. It seems like the chief is going to give in, but then begins to say again that he’s not allowed to discuss her.

Mouch gives Ritter his long list of suspects, but Mouch is determined to find the culprit.

A Wise Friend

Herrmann asks Stella about the plan for alcohol at her wedding, but Stella says Severide thought their plan was too pricy, and even says that they may call off the wedding. When Herrmann asks her what’s wrong, she confides in him that something’s felt off and wrong between her and Severide recently. Herrmann tries to assure her that it could just be wedding jitters, but Stella isn’t so sure. She wonders if he’s still upset with her for disappearing for so long, if something else is going on, or if they both have too much baggage in their romantic pasts. Herrmann reminds Stella of one good reason to marry Severide: they love each other. He tells her to keep it simple.

A Sticky Situation

Severide stays with the food truck,  then hears a noise. When he goes to investigate, he finds the owner. When the man looks in his truck and sees the top of the tank off, he realizes that Severide knows what he was hiding back there. He reaches for his gun and steps towards Severide, but at the perfect moment, Detective Hailey Upton appears. The man tells Severide he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into as Upton puts him in handcuffs and drags him away.

Later on, Severide tells Stella that he just found out there was $100,000 worth of drugs on the food truck. Before they head in to work, Stella stops Severide and tells her that she loves him. He seems confused on the sudden declaration, but says that he loves her, too.

The Culprit is Caught

Ritter looks at one of the crime scene photos, and sees that Cap has a stain on his shirt. They then zoom in on the couch and see what looks like an egg yolk. Mouch smells the cushion to make sure it’s egg, and even finds part of the shell in between the cushions. Ritter and Mouch silently look through notes and attempt to determine exactly what happened. They see that Tony was in charge of making breakfast, that included eggs, and smile and nod at each other.

Mouch interrogates Tony, who claims that he had nothing to do with the crime. After consulting with Ritter, Mouch lets Tony go. They bring in Cap, and before Mouch can even get a full sentence in, Cap blurts out that it was him and Tony. Tony shakes his head in disapproval, but Mouch and Ritter are thrilled that they solved the daunting mystery.

A Power Struggle

Gallo tells Violet that he talked to Hawkins, and then went to ask her former chief what happened with her, but got nothing out of him. Violet assures Gallo she isn’t mad, despite the fact that she asked Gallo not to do or say anything.

Violet and Emma get called out to a woman who was hit by a car. From the get go, they argue about who is in charge at the scene. Suddenly, a car comes speeding up, and Violet pulls Emma out of the way before she’s hit.

Emma assures Violet that she isn’t a bad person, that some people just make mistakes. She thanks Violet for saving her life.

Playing with Fire

As Severide gets into his car, a man across the street yells at him to come and help his wife. He runs and follows the man through an alleyway, but is lead straight into a trap. He gets jumped by three men, who start beating him up. Before he’s knocked out, he looks up and sees a man watching from a truck nearby.

Boden alerts Stella over the radio about what happened to Severide. She rushes to Med, and checks in on him. She tells him how scared she was, but Severide assures her that everything is fine. Stella knows that she’s been pushing him to get her own way, but Severide says that’s not their only problem. He wonders how they’re so confident running into fires, but both are scared of getting married. Stella says it’s because they don’t know what they’re doing. Severide tells her that the only way to run into fires is to just do it, so he wants to get married, and not wait any longer. He suggests that they get married next week, and Stella thinks that sounds like a great idea.

Boden interrupts their hug, coming in with a police officer. The officer reveals that the food truck driver is cousins with the guy in the truck, Thomas Campbell. He tells Severide that he is strong in the opioids business, but that they’re investigating it fully, they just wanted Severide to be in the know.

In Med’s waiting room, Cap asks Mouch what he wants for forgiveness, and Mouch wants Cap’s couch, much to Cap’s disappointment.

Just When You Think Things Are Getting Better…

Hawkins finds Emma in his office, and she tells him that she’s over the stalling. She wants to make Firehouse 51 her permanent home, and tells Hawkins to make it happen by next shift.
