Dancing Wires

Brett was cheery after her return from seeing Casey and learned about Chief Hawkins filling in while she was out.

The firehouse listened to a radio ad that promised to give away $10K and they were all on board to participate in the contest. Then they were called to the scene of an accident, a truck hit a pole and electric wires were down. The driver was still inside and unconscious.

A second fire team showed up to help and they coordinated the rescue. They secured the wires and sought to cut the man loose until Pelham noticed the transformer burst in flames and more lines dropped. One firefighter tried to contain the dancing wires and it electrocuted her off her feet!

The firefighter, McBride, was concussed but was going to be fine. When the team got back to the station, Pelham and Severide briefly discussed the transformer and concluded it might have been a defective unit.

Defensive

Chief Boden visited Pelham and told him that McBride blamed him for ordering her to secure the live wire without proper equipment. Boden asked all the crew members and they all backed him. An inquiry was forthcoming. Stella spoke with Kelly to see if Pelham was in the clear on his situation. Severide vouched for Pelham.

Later on at the bar, Severide talked with Pelham to see if he and McBride had any bad blood, wondering why she blames him. Kelly was headed to the arson unit and Pelham asked to tag along.

Kidd visited McBride in therapy, she had known the woman from Girls on Fire. She asked about the situation, seeking the full story from her but she got defensive and reverted her back to the report.

The next day, Pelham and Severide went to the scene and determined there was no sightline, and he could not have given her a command when he didn’t see her. Stella was in the room and shared that she visited McBride and told them how defensive she was and something wasn’t right.

The arson captain informed Severide that his suspicions were correct. He mentioned how Seager missed burning the midnight oil with him and Stella felt some type of way overhearing it.

Pressured

Hawkins recommended Violet for an award for her actions and she was jaded about the honor. Gallo pointed out Hawkins’s preferences towards Violet weren’t professional.

Sylvie and Voilet got a call for a man having an episode. He had a roach in his ear and thought it was more powerful forces at hand. Afterward, Violet thinks she got the award because Hawkins likes her

Violet visited Hawkins because she didn’t feel deserving since they saved the child together. She asked about his feeling for her and he told her his personal decisions don’t affect work. They got really close like they were going to kiss, and Hawkins suggested they stay away from each other for a while. She agreed.

Boden visited McBride’s commander and he learned Chief Don Kilborne visited her before she filed her report. He suspects Kilborne had her change her report to gun for Pelham. Boden caught up with Kilborne and accused him of pressuring McBride. Kilborne floated an alternate theory, claiming Pelham screwed up and dared him to prove any other version!

The 51 got a call to downtown Chicago to help clean up glass. Then one of the bystanders found the contest clue and won the $10K.

Boden took his concerns to Pelham to learn why was gunning for him. It was because Pelham forced his buddy to retire.

Stella was distant with Kelly and she confronted him about not mentioning cases he worked with Seager. He rebutted that he would, had she picked up his calls. She beat herself about disappearing and wanted to be the perfect one for him. He kissed her and consoled her, telling her she was the perfect one for him…

Boden went to Pelham’s house to tell him the review board finished his case and recommended his termination! Will Lt. Jason Pelham be leaving Chicago Fire when he just got there?
