Che Noir The Thrill of the Hunt 2 EP is a bridge to her upcoming album The Essence. If she’s spitting’ like this on an EP then the album is destined to be 🔥🔥🔥
It’s littered with dope punchlines, the lyrical content is so raw & visceral, the story tracks are deep, there’s absolutely no hooks and the beat production is pure genius Hip Hop!
Most female rappers have a stigma of having to be twice as good as a male emcee to catch ears. Thankfully Che Noir is easily four more times better than rappers nowadays. She has something to prove- that she’s one of the best lyricists around. I truly value artists like this when they’re in their hungry stage. She has barz! She can rhyme circles around a cypher listening to her songs. Dropping lines like “middle of a desert I’ll finesse a n***a out his glass of water” from the song “Sand Castle”. It’s littered with dope punchlines, the lyrical content is so raw & visceral, the story tracks are deep, there’s absolutely no hooks and the beat production is pure genius Hip Hop!
Although the entire album is dope there’s a few tracks that stand out to me and here’s my breakdown of them…
“Dying Breed” is a duet with producer 38 Spesh who created all but one of the tracks on the album. The ping-pong off each other similar to how Jadakiss and Styles P popularized. This joint is so raw- an excellent marriage of rhymes and beats! True Hip Hop is definitely and sadly a dying breed. Songs like this resurrect it.
“Spin The Bottle” shows the emcees braggadocious style. She’s confident she can best any rapper put in front of her. No need to think of a name she rather you simply spin at chance. Citing, “put my enemies in a circle. I can decide who I wanna kill first, so I say f*ck it, we playing spin the bottle. Whoever it lands on, gonna be the first to kiss this hollow. And kiss tomorrow goodbye, that’s how I clip my rivals.”
“Bloody Sword” starts off a melodic sampling. The first bar is deep and simply reels you in deeper. She compares her underestimation as a female emcee to that of David in the Goliath scriptures. Double entendrés in this one are strong. She even sprinkles some food for thought… or for your Googling. Speaking on Mansa Musa, the richest man in world who was from Africa.
“Today” is a look into the rappers love life. A story of her dealings with an ex. Like many of us it’s not so cut and dry simple to leave a toxic relationship when the drug of love is introduced and there’s deep history.
