Tariq is responsible for all their deaths on Power

Previously on Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 Episode 9, Tariq was haunted by all of the people whose deaths he was responsible for. Tate was being called to testify against Riq but he brought up information that could lead to a mistrial. Lorenzo learned what Monet had been up to from Dru and Diana and they stole their drugs back from Tariq’s college stash boxes. Zeke’s age issue was leaked to the press. Monet planned for her and Cane to run away with Dante after finally discovering that he was Mecca.

Mecca knew Cane stole his drugs but not his ring, so he paid Tariq a visit to get it back. Tariq confronted him for being a snitch on the federal payroll and negotiated a high-stakes payoff from the plug. Tariq also discovered that both Cane and Brayden learned of Lauren implicating them on the wire and set a plan in motion to save her life. However, Effie intercepted the woman and we can only assume that she killed Lauren

Warning… Speculations and spoilers are below!

Zeke at Mecca's hangar, will he leave too?

Mecca took Zeke by his airport hangar and invited him to leave with them.

Tariq called Lauren’s phone to no answer. Effie woke, inquiring about his call and he confided in her that he was checking on her well-being. He also asked her to check on Yasmine in case he got locked up. Riq met with his attorneys before court and learned that Trace (Brayden’s brother) was going to testify against him. Though his alibi meant burning Saxe’s family member.

While in court, ADA Sullivan gave a curveball… instead of Trace, they called Brayden to the stand! He admitted to dealing drugs at Stansfield and not Tariq- offering up CourseConnect. Davis harped on the evidence and demanded to dismiss the case. Based on the new evidence, the case was dismissed!

Afterward, Tariq and Davis chatted about their arrangement. Riq wanted his help getting Yasmine back… then their arrangement was over.

Jenny went to a bar and Saxe was there. She was distraught and told him that Lauren was dead! Found in a car accident. She blamed Saxe’s client for the deaths of Carrie and Lauren. Saxe confided in her that he once planted evidence against Ghost, framing him for murder. Then advised her to take the loss this time and walk away.

Help Wanted

Tariq met with Monet and she needed his help with killing Lorenzo. He told her everything about the bag… it not only had the diamond ring but inditement paperwork with his real name, Dante Spears. Monet also learned that he was a federal confidential informant!

She was pissed and asked him to craft a plan to help Cane seem like he would kill his father to buy time for her to kill Mecca. Yet Tariq needed him alive long enough to get the $2 million he was extorting from Mecca. After that, he was out of the game.

Stepping Down

Tariq got back to the dorm and Brayden was packing to move since his father pulled him from school. They discussed the CourseConnect lockers being emptied and Diana being the possible culprit. He asked about Lauren and Brayden lied. Suddenly, Cane showed up and Tariq had to pep-talk him what it would be like to murder the man responsible for giving him life.

Surprisingly, Zeke visited Det. Whitman inquiring about Carrie’s suicide and left. It raised suspicions with the cop.

Tate crashed a cigar lounge where Steven and Sweeney were. Steven and Tate bullied Sweeney into stepping down and giving up his seat to Rashad Tate.

Lauren’s Fate

Mecca spoke with Cane and offered him a position as the plug in New York. The discussion of Tariq came up and Cane thought it would be opportunistic to kill him. Mecca agreed but not at the current time. Monet overheard the conversation and interjected about the rest of her family not willing to flee with them.

Tariq met with Daniel Warren and managed to stop the adoption and that Yasmine would be returned to him. Suddenly, Saxe interrupted the meeting to inform Tariq that Lauren was dead!

Saxe took the news to Davis feeling guilty that their negligence. Davis shut him down. Then they shifted the discussion toward Theodore Rollins’ case. Saxe felt he was innocent and Davis charged him with exonerating the man.

Relocated

Somewhere in an undisclosed location, Tasha St. Patrick received an unexpected visitor. She was alarmed and grabbed her gun and go bag. She got curious and answered the door and it was Tameika Robinson with a surprise… she had Yasmine but they had to relocate again under new identities!

Tasha asked about Tariq but was stifled. Though she knew he was fine. However, in the blacked-out SUV, Tariq got a chance to see his mother and sister embrace each other, though he couldn’t interact with them.

Later on, Dru met with Tariq to learn of the decoy plan to through Mecca off. Dru also learned that Riq was aware he and his sister stole his drugs. Though he wasn’t concerned about that, only that Diana didn’t look into the bag.

Meanwhile, Zeke revisited Whitman and learned that a traffic cam caught Monet leaving Carrie’s house the night she died. He was distraught over the news.

Shootings

Tariq and Cane met at Mecca’s warehouse where Lorenzo was getting his next shipment. Before sneaking into the place, Tariq asked Cane about Lauren. When they went inside, Cane nervously aimed his gun at his father and Tariq stopped him to inform him that they were there to kill Mecca’s goons. They took them out but had to get to Diana as she unknowingly picked up the real bag.

Dru met with Everette but was intercepted by Mecca’s men. It too was a decoy. They pulled a gun on him but was interrupted by Cane aiding his brother. Back at home, Diana looked in the bag and read a few bank accounts with her siblings’ names on them.

At the airport hangar, Zeke pulled up and was wearing a hood. Lorenzo crept in and saw a hooded man headed towards the private jet and thought it was Mecca. Lorenzo shot at Zeke, hitting him, and fled!

At Mecca’s penthouse, Monet pulled a gun on him confronting him about everything. He rebutted accusing her of killing Carrie and lying to Zeke about it. Mecca lunged towards Monet and she pulled the trigger!

Meanwhile, Tariq heard the lone shot and headed to the pad with his gun brandished. He discovered that she shot him in the head. He would have killed Tariq as soon as he arrived!

Money & Power

Back at the Tejada’s they learned of Dante Spears’ (aka Mecca’s) murder on television but hadn’t heard from Zeke.

Det. Blanca Rodriguez was now with the DEA and was shocked her C.I. was dead. Although the penthouse security footage was wiped, she did obtain a lobby photo of Tariq entering the building.

Davis met with his brother Theodore in prison as he was close to being free. Saxe confided in Jenny that he would double-cross Davis to secretly help her. Rashid met with Kamaal asking him to head his security when he runs for Sweeney’s seat.

Tariq left Yasmine with a letter to give to his mother. He vowed to get back to them eventually. He needed money and power to do so. At the Tejada’s Zeke was the only one missing. When the phone rang, it was Whitman, informing Monet that Zeke was dead

    1. Sir Anthony says:

That would be epic if they reserved him for the finale!

  2. Jan says:

First, Tariq handled Mecca like Ghost would have. He maned all the way up and stepped in Mecca’s ass with all that info. Impressive. I think per the previews he might tell Kane that killing his father Lorenzo will change him forever.
If someone is going to die, I sense it might be Drew.
Monet is definitely playing Mecca. It almost made no sense she said Kane was ready to go with them when Kane did not even know Mecca was “Dante” – Zeke’s pops. And I don’t believe she thinks Lorenzo tried to have her or Zeke killed. He is pissed but I have to believe he still loves her.
I saw someone showed an old episode of Power that mentioned Ghost had a brother in the military, like Mecca. So that might be a twist except he really wouldn’t be shit if he was so ready to kill his nephew Tariq.
Did Tariq tape Tate when he threatened him in the stall? Did Jabari give Tariq a proposal in writing to write a book about him (I don’t know why I remember that, but I might be wrong because if so, that would show Tariq had no reason to kill him.
