Warning… Spoilers below!

On Big Sky: Deadly Trails Season 3 Episode 9 “Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire”, Beau and Jenny interrogate Walter, who admits to killing Paige. Walter refuses to talk about Mary or Luke’s death.

Cormac and Cassie are enjoying a night out dancing at a bar. When Cassie brings up Buck lying about selling his truck and knowing that Walter was in the woods, Cormac gets upset and leaves the bar. Buck cuts his finger and uses the blood to draw a heart on the pole at the camp. He wipes it away when he sees Sunny coming along.

Sunny explains to Buck that she is worried about Paige. She believes that Paige is still alive and Cassie will come looking for her. Carla tells Beau that he will need to help watch Emily while she and Avery figure their relationship out. Beau agrees, saying that he got Emily an internship with Denise and Cassie.

Jenny and Beau find a dead body, Brett Baker, hanging from a tree. Brett is a professional stunt jumper, but one of his parachute lines had been cut. They head out to talk to Brett’s wife, Mary Baker. Mary explains that Brett’s best friend died while smokejumping and his friend’s dad blamed Brett

Avery meets up with Tony aka “The Suit” at a bar. Tony has offered Avery 1 million dollars if Avery can help them track down the missing cryptocurrency. Avery is trying to hack the account that the cryptocurrency is in, but he’s not having any luck. Tony threatens Carla and Emily’s life as an incentive.

Jenny and Beau meet up with Frank Ludwig, the father of Brett’s best friend who died in a jump. Frank is not very cooperative and is upset that Jenny and Beau believe he sent Brett to his death. Cassie decides to question Walter all alone.

Cassie wants to know why Walter moved Mark’s body and placed a small figurine where the body used to be. Walter explains that the small figurines are for protection against someone other than himself.

Where’s Paige

Tonya and Donno are having a disagreement about whether they should go after the stolen cryptocurrency or the journal pages that Avery stole from Paige’s journal. Sunny walks into the Diner and informs them that Paige is still alive. Unknowing to Sunny, Cormac is following her.

Deputy Poppernak informs Jenny and Beau that Frank’s business got robbed last fire season and Brett had rented a storage unit nearby at the same time. They head to the storage unit, and find the clerk dead before spotting someone on the surveillance camera. Beau and Jenny chase the man down but he escapes. The storage unit is filled with stolen goods.

Frank’s son and Brett’s names are both on the storage rental unit. Cormac confronts Sunny about going to the diner and demands to know the truth about the man in the cabin. Sunny blows Cormac’s mind when she admits that Walter is his brother!

Tying It All Together

Frank wears a wire and confronts his business partner, who killed Frank’s son and Brett to keep them quiet about stealing from Frank.  Cassie heads to Walter’s cabin all by herself. She wants to see if there are any clues or evidence that they all missed.

Cassie finds newspaper clippings inside the cabin relating to Walter’s adoptive parents and the house fire that killed them. Avery is able to hack into Paige’s bank account and calls Tony to inform him of his progress.

Beau and Jenny stare at the stars and enjoy a cold beer together. Sunny sits around the campfire and sings a song. Paige sneaks up behind Sunny and compliments her on her singing. Sonny is shocked and relieved to see that Paige is still alive
