Watch Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 8 “Plan and Execution”
Previously on Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 7, Jimmy and Kim’s master plan came together after nearly aborting it at the eleventh hour. They reshot the bribery photos and planted them with Howard. At the class-action meeting, Howard confronted the judge who he was manipulated into believing was taking bribes. He was also drugged to make his behavior seem irrational. Ultimately, Jimmy and Kim got their way and the case amount was lowered.
Meanwhile, Lalo gained the information he sought and reconned Fring’s industrial laundromat. Armed with new intel, he disobeyed his uncle’s commands and visited Jimmy and Kim at their home. They were being confronted by Howard as he caught onto them finally. Unfortunately, Lalo killed Howard Harper right in front of them!
Warning… Spoilers below including another death!
On Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 8, we learned what happened to Howard’s body. It was made to look like suicide as one of his shoes washed ashore, his Jaguar was parked at the beach blasting music, and his wallet and wedding ring were left behind…
A Simple Errand
Lalo demanded Jimmy drive to Gustavo’s house, shoot and kill him with the revolver he left in the glovebox, snap photo evidence, and return within an hour. Jimmy redirected that Kim do the deed since she would be less suspicious while approaching. Kim fought with Jimmy and refused yet Lalo accepted the offer and made her go while Jimmy stayed behind as insurance that she completed the task.
When Kim left, Lalo pondered what to do with Jimmy, so he tied him up and told him about an assassin team who breached his home and murdered his family, and tried to murder him. He told him that Nacho was responsible for letting them in, and Nacho introduced him to the lawyer. He gagged Jimmy and left him temporarily. Jimmy scuffled in the chair and made it tip over.
Meanwhile, Kim drove in the middle of the night and had an opportunity to signal the police yet forcefully played it cool. She arrived at Fring’s decoy house, grabbed the revolver, and rang the doorbell, when the person opened the door, Mike flanked her from behind, grabbed the gun, and pushed her inside!
Mike and his team calmed Kim while Gustavo watched and listened from the security video. She told him that Lalo was with Jimmy and told him the plan she was forced to complete. If she didn’t finish, he would kill Jimmy! She ranted at Mike because he previously told her that he had a team watching them yet they failed. Mike traversed the tunnels to confirm that Gus heard everything and to stay put.
Lalo waited until security was pulled away from the laundry and crept inside. Back at the decoy house, Gustavo called his henchmen who guarded Kim and asked why Lalo sent her, and she told him the truth. Thereafter, Gus peeled off two men and left…
Mike’s team and sharpshooter covered the perimeter of Jimmy’s condo. Once secured they breached. Mike and his team found Jimmy, asking how long has Lalo been gone. Mike instantly realized it was a decoy to get his eyes off the prize.
Gustavo visited the laundry to inspect and noticed a breach. When he turned back, Lalo had executed all four men guarding him then casually approached Gustavo. Lalo stripped Gustavo of his weapons and phone and forced him to give a tour of his lab. He videotaped the whole ordeal, and to show Gus he was serious, he shot him in the vest! Fring obliged and showed him through the secret false door.
Lalo taunted and admired Gustavo for pulling off the lab. Digging a giant hole using German engineers, without disturbing the laundry upstairs, and in a town of a million people. Lalo knew Gus’ plan was to build a Meth lab and cut out his cartel bosses.
Like all villains, Lalo monologed too much and even allowed Gustavo to say his last words. Fring vented the truth that he would rid all of the Salamancas! Gustavo used the speech to position himself near the light’s plug, disconnected it, and dashed towards a hidden gun. Gustavo and Lalo shot at each other yet Gus got the best of him, shooting him in the neck and killing him. Fring was hit in the vest again, this time puncturing and revealing blood…
While Gustavo was being patched up, he still cared enough about the store that he put his number two in charge, making an excuse that he would be out all week. Mike ridiculed his boss for not informing him of his suspicions of Lalo.
Mike and his team moved Howard’s body and car. Mike reassured Jimmy and Kim that Lalo was never returning and gave them the story about Howard’s apparent suicide and disappearance. They had to continue telling the lie in the days ahead while they went about a normal day.
Of course, Howard or Lalo’s bodies would never be found as Mike had them buried together under the meth lab! Before tossing Howard’s body into the tomb, he removed his wallet, wedding ring, and shoe…
