Previously on Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 11, Gene/Saul figured out a way to get in touch with his old trusty assistant, Francesca Liddy, who gave him the rundown of the events that happened after he fled Albuquerque. Soon after, he tracked Kim down at Palm Coast Sprinklers in Titusville, Florida. The audience was not allowed to hear what Saul said on the phone, but he was so upset and screaming into the phone that he destroyed the phone booth!

Gene shifted gears to pile some cash since his hidden offshore account was confiscated by the Feds, so he reactivated Jeff and Buddy for a new scam to drug and rob unsuspecting wealthy saps. However, the last mark was a cancer patient, and Buddy aborted the plan, which caused Gene to fire him and complete the caper himself.

Yes… the speculation we’ve all been waiting for happened. We flashed back to Breaking Bad when Walter and Jessie kidnapped Saul and threatened him in the desert. Saul thought Lalo sent the duo after him. Thereafter, Saul wanted to retain the pair as his clients, knowing they had a great product and needed guidance…

Warning… Speculations and spoilers are below!

On Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 12, we flashback to Saul Goodman in his office procrastinating on whether to see the next person awaiting his law office. Francesca urged him to take them, yet he stalled her. He opened a manilla package, and it contained divorce paperwork from Kim. He then phoned his assistant to let her in…

Kim’s Guilt

Flash forward, and we see Kim Wexler (portrayed by Rhea Seehorn) as a brunette in her home preparing tuna salad to host a backyard barbecue. Her home, love, and sex life seem drab and routine with her husband. She drives her Prius to Palm Coast Sprinklers, a commercial irrigation company. Her work-life shares the same monotony.

Victor St. Clair called for Kim. She closed her blinds and stared at the call waiting… it was Gene. She was curious to know what he wanted. He wanted to catch up. It’s been six years since he last saw her. He assured her that he was alive, even taunting the fact that the Feds couldn’t catch him. He begged her to talk to him, and she advised him to stop calling and turn himself in.

He gave her a tongue lashing about the blame game she was playing. She told him she was glad he was alive, then hung up! (This was what Saul said on the pay phone. Afterward, he became livid and destroyed the phone booth.)

Next, Kim arrived in Albuquerque and then visited the courthouse. Afterward, she visited Cheryl Hamlin, Howard Hanlin’s widow, and gave her a written statement confessing exactly how he died. Kim and Jimmy caused Howard’s downward spiral for personal gain. She questioned where his body was, but Kim would never know. Cheryl questioned why she wasn’t arrested. When Kim visited the courthouse, she offered the same letter, yet the district attorney decided not to pursue it. There wasn’t any physical evidence to prove her guilt, so the authorities chose not to prosecute the case.

Cheryl threatened to personally sue Kim for payback, and she acknowledged the guilt. Kim left calmly from Cheryl’s home but broke down in tears on the shuttle ride to the airport.

The Good Lawyer

Gene broke into the cancer victim’s home but getting to the financials wasn’t as easy as when Buddy probed. He had to find the man’s passwords, which he did find under a lamp. Gane took his time pursuing the man’s entire home. However, a police squad car pulled up behind Jeff. Suddenly, Gene noticed that the man got up, staggered to the stairs, and tried to make a phone call but fell back out just as Gene was going to strike him with a vase. Although the cops were paying attention to the cab, Jeff put it in gear and crashed into a nearby home to cause a diversion for Gene to slip out.

Flashback to the blonde Kim we all know, and she signed the divorce paperwork. Saul was a douchebag to her taunting her for not wanting her money from the Sandpiper case. When she left, she went outside of his rainy office to smoke, and Jessie Pinkman asked her for a smoke. Jessie recognized her as a lawyer because he got several of his drug dealer buddies off. He asked was Saul Goodman a good lawyer. She replied, “when I knew him… he was,” then she left.

Conman in Albuquerque

Gene took the bus and received a phone call from jail. It was Jeff pretending to be Gene’s son (speaking incode) to inform him that the cancer victim woke, ran out of the house to flag the police, and accused Jeff of the robbery. Gene promised to bail him out by lunchtime.

Gene called Jeff’s mother, Marion, telling her the news and that he would swing by to pick her up and help with bailing him out. She became upset, telling Gene his antics would be the death of her. Gene mentioned Albuquerque, and Marion perked up, even asking if was Buddy in trouble. He claimed he wasn’t.

She put her headphones back on and watched videos. Gene arrived, and Marion wanted him to go alone. Gene looked at her laptop and noticed she was watching his old “Better Call Saul Goodman” television commercials. He asked if she thought the man was him, and she acknowledged him. He wondered if Jeff ratted him out but she Googled “conman in Albuquerque,” and Saul Goodman popped up! He tried to reason with her, but she went to call the police. After ripping the phone from the wall, she went for her Life Alert pendant. He pleaded for her to stop (as if he would hurt her) ultimately, he didn’t, and she called for help… ratting Gene T out as Saul Goodman. Gene fled…
