Watch 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3 Episode 9 “The Bird”
Previously on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3 Episode 8, T.K.’s mother Gwyneth died. He and his father, Owen, missed their original flight and caught the next one to New York. The episode flashed back to a time when T.K. was badly strung out on drugs and Gwyn forced him into rehab.
Those life lessons became valuable for what happened in the present when their plan experienced a malfunction and a woman was nearly sucked out of the window. The off-duty fire rescue stabilized the woman and saved her life with the help of their comrades on the ground. Although he missed the funeral, T.K. learned his mother would be proud of his progress in life…

On 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3 Episode 9, the 126 teased Capt. Owen about his date with Katherine… the woman he kidnapped (welp… used her car to save someone). However, his recently deceased ex-wife, Gwyn, left a parrot for him in her will.
Surprise!
Nora was driving her daughter Lea while video chatting with her military husband, Sgt. Javier. He was to be deployed for the next two years but had an epic surprise for his family as he planned to finally see his father in person. He was in town in front of their church. Nora was so excited and distracted receiving the news that she nearly had an accident and literally ran into Javier on the church steps!
The 126 save a trapped soldier on 9-1-1 Lone Star Season 3 Episode 9
The man was pinned under their SVU. He had lost about a liter of blood by the time the 126 arrived. Moving him caused more blood loss. So they devised a plan called the “lube job” to get him out. T.K. performed CPR and Javier was flatlined. Nora was distraught holding Lea. The babe said, “Da Da” and the church bell rang then suddenly, Javier revived and met his new daughter for the first time.
Later on, Paul had another terrible nightmare, dreaming Judd backed the fire truck into him… smashing him. Marjan woke to console him and noticed his heartbeat was erratic and suggested he seek medical treatment.
Rather Die A Firefighter
Owen didn’t want the bird but Gwyn’s attorney Gloria insisted on enforcing her will. Later on, the bird antagonized Owen with all of the talking. Mateo managed to help Owen with the bird.
Before T.K. took off, Tommy had a chat with him. He confessed to entering the narcotics locker but she wanted to talk about his mental well-being since his mother passed. She invited him to a meeting she attends for grief. He was honored to attend with her.
Paul and Marjan got his test results and his physician warned him of a grave cardiac condition, Brugada syndrome. Untreated leads to a fatality, but he would need a pacemaker implanted. He was upset that he would be placed on limited duties or be forced to retire. The doctor told him, without the device, he wouldn’t live past a few years…
When Paul got back to the station he told Marjan that he wasn’t doing the surgery. She confronted him about his condition and that he would perish early, just like his father. He rebutted that he would rather die a firefighter than live another other way.
Cat Lady
Tommy and T.K. help save a cat lady on 9-1-1 Lone Star Season 3 Episode 9
An elderly woman on a scooter wanted help in a pet store. When the clerk didn’t help her immediately she went into a tirade and driver her scooter around smashing displays. She then rammed her scooter into the rack which caused a domino effect, knocking other racks down, trapping a woman!
When the 126 got to the store the woman was still a firecracker. Tommy had a hunch as to why. She was a cat lady and the feline feces caused a mental condition. The woman had a seizure and Tommy was able to stabilize her. Meanwhile, the fire rescue saw through the metal racks to free the trapped woman but she was concerned about her lap dog. Paul pulled a Hulk move to lift the rack to free the canine and Marjan was upset he was exerting unnecessary energy.
Owen’s date was interrupted by the bird blurting insults. Owen felt the bird was to torture him for the rest of his life but Katherine assured him Gwyn felt he would be the best person to care for the bird. She shared that the bird might have a bad history with Owen.
Later on, at the fire station, Owen shared a story with Judd, about how he and Gwyn would fight and the bird had a front-row seat. Owen called the bird names and he remembered and recanted them to him. Owen was was regretful about his last words to Gwyn, they were hurtful.
Against My Wishes
Paul was feeling great and preparing dinner at his home. As he drank a glass of wine, he collapsed! The irony, Marjan was calling him. Shortly after, she visited his place to talk and hear the record player skipping so she kicked the door in and found him unconscious, called 9-1-1, and performed PCR!
Paul woke in the hospital and Marjan was there with him. He woke to a pacemaker embedded into his chest. Paul was upset she didn’t stop them from inserting the device. He was so upset that he demanded her to leave. She was distraught that he was grateful for saving his life.
T.K. opened up at the meeting while Tommy was by his side.
Owen got a chance to apologize to the bird for his behavior toward the animal and towards Gwyn. He wondered if his ex-wife passed peacefully. Then the bird regurgitated happier comments from his time with Gwyn. Later on, Owen wanted to so Katherine his progress with the bird but unfortunately, it died…
The original series, 9-1-1 spring premiere returns on Monday, March 21, 2022.

Why and how did the bird died ?
They didn’t explain why. My assumption is that it made its peace with Owen before passing.
Probably of a lonely heart. Just like people, animals sometimes are so depressed their owners are no longer alive and they are not getting the love & attention to compensate for the loss …. They will give up on life. It’s a shame. But true.
I want to know where was the bird when Gwen moved her things in with Owen when they were living together & she got pregnant & thought it was his. The story last night made it sound like he never saw her after leaving NY to go work in Texas. Someone goofed. And it said Tommy was supposed to go on her first date since her husband died & that part never showed. What’s Up ???
