BET has added to the initial star-studded list of 2020 BET Awards performers. We can expect performances by Nas, Public Enemy, Questlove, Rapsody, Black Thought, Jay Rock, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard, Mister Jahi, and YG. Previously announced performers include performances by Alicia Keys, Chloe X Halle, DaBaby, D Smoke, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Jonathan McReynolds, Kane Brown, Lil Wayne, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, SiR, Summer Walker, Usher, and Wayne Brady.
The 2020 BET Awards will be hosted by comedian and actress Amanda Seales. It makes a national air debut on CBS. This matters because it is the first time one of the primary major networks has aired the BET Awards. This helps broaden the award shows reach and diversify its audience. More importantly, it shows Viacom’s commitment to ridding racial inequities and more be inclusive. Hence, the need for Black Entertainment Television Networks’ inception of the show twenty years ago.
BET will have tributes to Little Richard and Kobe Bryant, with live performances by Jennifer Hudson and Lil Wayne.
Due to the current health pandemic, the physical event and fan fest have been canceled. But the show must go on! It will be broadcast virtually. Catch it on BET, BET Her, and CBS on Sunday, June 28th from 7 pm to 10 pm CT.
